Aw man I freaking LOVE Junji Ito mangas, and I bought every North American release, but I had mixed feelings about this one. I was glad Ito was getting some love from the industry by having an anime adaptation, but I feel like something got lost in translation when they converted these short stories to anime. Perhaps the selection of stories is off as well. I wanted to like it so much, but I just didn't feel anything from the anime. :( The monochromatic style and single freeze frames of the manga does something to cultivate that creepy feeling in the audience's mind, but animating it somehow felt like the magic was lost. But I still love Junji Ito. Maybe watching it a second time around will change my mind.
