I think the reason why she is so hated is, as you said, the perspective we got in the series, in the first three seasons we were shown that eren are the good ones and rainer and co are the bad guys who killed innocent civilians . Now the whole story is turned around, for gabi eren and co are the ones who are the bad ones who kill the innocent, although they only take revenge for what was done to them. if we had seen the story from gabi's point of view at the beginning and only later from eren's point of view, all the hatred would draw on eren and not on gabi. it's just a way of showing that revenge always aims at retaliation and the war will never end. Another thing that you probably didn't understand in the last episode and in the current episode, rainer has transformed himself to protect falco. rainer himself suffered a few injuries from the falling ruins, which a titan shifter should actually be able to heal if he has the will to live, as falco said. Reiner mentioned more than once in the last episode that he wanted to die because it was eating away at him inside what he did to Eren and co. that is why the "prickly" titan was basically not a complete transformation from rainer, in the end he only changed because gabi and falco screamed and porco galliard was in danger, so he actually never wanted to fight but just save porco and then stop. sry for my bad english. greetings from germany
