Something that crossed my mind lately - if I start doing machinima at any point, how do I stand out? If I'm using the same base models as everyone else, how might my animations be recognized as my own? Altering the hell out of the models might do it.

Machinima artists modifying models is nothing new. Obviously when their animation calls for details/anatomy that the original model doesn't have, modifications are necessary. Some will even increase the polygon count, to smooth out the rough edges. Regardless, the model is still recognizable.  In my case, Instead of making the same minor changes, what if I heavily edited the characters to more closesly match my style?

I got thinking about this thanks to the the tauren pinup I'd finished a few days ago. In-game tauren are not the most appealing creatures. If I try to match the model to that pinup's proportions, I'll have my work cut out for me. But if I'm successful, it will most definitely stand out. At the very least, it could be a nice change of pace from all the scripting I've done over the past month or so...
