In which you learn about others.

As always, we have a new illustrations from Haps in this update. If you'd like to support him directly, you can find his Patreon HERE!

Hey guys, sorry about the late release. I had a few surprise errands pop up yesterday, followed by technical issues that had me busy through the morning and afternoon. I would have made a post had I known it was going to take this long, but I ended up getting lost in the work. Due to these technical issues, some may have issues with old saves not working correctly depending on where you saved last (for me it was the entirety of build 12). Hopefully it's not too widespread and you can go back to a slightly older save. If not, I apologize and remember that you can use the skip function by clicking "prefs" in the dialogue box and then clicking on "unseen text" so that you can skip all the way through the novel.

Things are beginning to wind down and come to a close, though I'm making sure to leave some room for an update or two that just focuses on Amicus, as he's been absent for a good portion of the past several updates. This was an odd update to write, and though I know I say that a lot, I feel I went in some directions with the story here that could end up being divisive. Either way, I'd love to hear your feedback, and as always, if you find any typos, just let us know in the comments so that we can prepare the build for public release!

Corrupted my old save

Anonymous

I just downloaded the windows version and when I try to load my save it keeps giving me and error and won’t let me progress

Anonymous

Ah yea, I keep getting an error about rolling back

Anonymous

Once again, love the dialouge between the MC and Amicus and also once again, why did it have to end there?!

Jeremy Hybrid

I also got an error message but the balcony scene was were I restarted and worked fine for me. This was an amazing update and I cannot wait for the next one

Anonymous

I was getting the same problems with my save. Thankfully I had earlier saves that I went back to, at the start of build 12. However, it wouldn't let me skip past any of the content in that update, so I had to progress normally. Things were fine once I got to the new content though. On the subject of the update itself, I thought it was very well done. It was neat seeing that more serious side of Amicus, and the moon's reaction to what the MC had done is rather amusing. Really looking forward to where things go from here, especially given the MC's new mission.

Here are all the typos that I could find: https://imgur.com/a/iPNpm6U

It's better than nothing. They'll probably have a lot more next update!

Thank you you so much for not killing off the MC. This is turning out to be the happy ending that I needed.

Another amazing update. Sorry to be "that guy" but having been a single soldier relationship counselor (also, minor spoiler alert): 1) It typically takes 3 months for someone to drop their persona to the point where you get to know who they really are. Those fun little quirks at the start of the relationship can get downright irritating once the honeymoon period wears off. 2) It takes 2 years typically to know if you think someone is compatible enough for marriage. I don't know how long the characters have been together, but I think maybe they are just getting past the honeymoon period. We called getting married within the first 2 years of knowing someone "Dirty Harry" marriages - "do you feel lucky?" It *can* work...if you're lucky enough to have found someone compatible who you don't fully know yet. 3) 6 *months* is a super long time to be away and destroys many relationships. The major thing is that you learn to live apart and lose attachment, then when you get back together things cannot simply start back where they left off. It takes time to learn to live with each other again. Not to mention the rampant cheating...it helps to define the relationship before such a long absence so that each person knows what the boundaries are, and if a boundary is crossed, the relationship is so fragile at this point that it almost always just ends. 4) The 5 dimensions of a relationship - Knowing, Trusting, Relying, Committing and Sex. In a typical healthy relationship you know someone slightly more than you trust them, you trust them then you rely on them, as you rely on them you commit to them, then the sex is amazing. Sorry if this comes off as pedantic, but if you're planning an 8 year absence with a happy reunion at the end (knowing how this has played out thus far, I anticipate twists and turns and that it doesn't turn out quite as planned) I just wanted to convey some typical relationship dynamics so it feels as realistic as possible (as realistic as a space wolf sex comic can be, I suppose).

Anonymous

Normally I would immediately agree, but the relationship between the MC and Amicus is rather unique. They were essentially fated to be together by alien gods with precognition, and are implied to have been specifically chosen for compatibility. Not to say that their potential reunion would go on without a hitch, but I feel like it would be smoother than what would be expected. Honestly, I feel like something is gonna happen that will result in a major change of plans. Things seem a little TOO calm right now, a little too convenient. The last several updates felt like a storm and now it seems over, but we might just be in the eye right now. Or maybe not, lol. Whatever the case, I hope this isn't the last that we see of the current MC. I really like seeing this world from his PoV.

Yeah I had to load a save back at the end of build 11. I'm glad I save often

Anonymous

I too had the save roll-back issue, but ran through on an older save. Thank you for another beautiful chapter. I'm glad we could get a small glimpse into some of the other characters in the story after the Cato event. I thought the pacing there was nice, considering there are a handful of shorter moments with each of them. Seeing the MC back with Amicus in their bedroom made me feel very light and joyous, despite the serious nature of that conversation. Being back in these places like the garden and the bedroom and the bath feels incredibly surreal, which I am sure that is how the MC is feeling too. I really appreciate how well you've been able to feel out that perspective and try to capture the sensations and emotional responses someone might have in this foreign of an experience.

Were the hay can I download this sweet music?

I swear I wanna give these parents an earful. I really REALLY cant trust them now. So to summarize they're doing all of this because of an unknown thing that formed and they're trying to prevent it from spreading by having the galaxias coming together and to possibly fight it? wtf idk they are getting on my last nerves but a more important topic. so glad to be back with my wolf. Like yall don't understand when the MC woke up I had the biggest smile on my face with tears rolling down when all i saw was amicus right there, smiling. haha but just to hear about being separated again is emotional. As much as I hate being away from amicus I say go back, do the time, Introducing earth to the galaxias is also a good way to explain where we've been the past couple of months, possibly say goodbye to earth (because personally I wouldn't want to leave adastra again) get married lmao. I'm hoping for a wedding deep down. Things are so emotional right now in this novel. On a side note kinda mad the MC didn't let amicus rip Alex a new one but a deals a deal.

Yaaas! Finally a new update! X3

I gotta be honest here, I was not impressed with this update. personally I feel like everything was wrapped up in a very plot convenient bow to give the characters a rather happy and abrupt ending. Now I know a lot of people are angry at the parents for the choices they make Amicus and Marco choose but let's remember that they never threaten the characters with punishment; they simply refuse to assist in things like bringing Marco back if Amicus doesn't help. they state that marco would pass naturally at this point and they simply ask that amicus listen to them and they will restore marco as he plays a role in their plans. the parents never force these choices they simply aren't handing out favors like reanimating the dead just because someone wants someone back without some kind of incentive for them... kinda like a regular transaction, you trade something for something you want. So what I mean by a neat little plot convenient bow is that Marco is just restored and it makes his whole death seem unnecessary, Amcius could've said yes to the parents will and then not listened to them afterwards they never threaten punishment. they don't force marco's hand in his choice about the mission, they simply state that they won't help him unless he acts as the ambassador they request him to be. (keep in mind he's only on Adastra because the parents want him there, he isn't there by accident and to simply have a good time so for the parents to keep him happy, they need something in return which isn't unfair.) Cassius being revived and able to go back to normal because very conveniently Virginia and the medicine were able to save him seemed very "oh how convenient", and Alexios being found out but instead of being put on some kind of trial and being charged with a crime as he should have been, he's simply banished and conveniently in a place where cassisus can still see him and where he's safe. On the note of Cassius, I also feel his dialogue was written very poorly here as he acts like the stereotypical "grumpy boy who's got a sweet side" the way he talks down to marco but still thanks him and his rather good intentions for the poor wolves of Adastra are revealed feels very trope-y. Overall I feel like the sudden abrupt solving of a lot of the issues we've seen these characters face throughout the novel or even in just recent events turn out to be very minor despite their obvious severity; things tone down far too quickly here to allow for that marcoXAmicus moment; it just doesn't flow well with the pacing of the story we've gotten thus far. I'm not saying this kind of happier ending isn't a good thing, I just think there needs to be a more gradual transition into it; in this update we don't see any kind of struggle Amicus may have had adjusting in the first few days, the way Cass felt when he found out about Alexios, how Neferu plans to go about things after these events, hell even what becomes of Cato's corpse after his killing. We simply see this major tragedy unfold and then suddenly boom all the characters are alright now due to very convenient plot devices. I apologize for how critical I'm being of this update but I'm doing it simply because I really enjoy this story and I feel this finale so far is very poorly executed and does not have very good pacing; I was rather disappointed in this update as it is now I'm sorry to say.

-_- a little late for that ashley..

LLVPandaSevron

Well that was...intense...lets just start with the errors so I can have time to process the rest of my personal thoughts: After the parents tell Amicus that he has a choice to make the next line "Everything seems to come together all at once for Amicus" the line is repeated twice and I'm not sure if that was intentional, long after that in Amicus's room after Virginia leaves Amicus asks us how we are doing and we say we're just adjusting the last line says "Just trying to adjust to the all the new" it should probably say "adjust to all the new", while in the garden going over our decisions we talk about Cato getting his visor we wonder why the parents did it knowing he'd go on doing bad things its spelled "gon on" so just remove the n. That's about all I could see

LLVPandaSevron

I...I can't...I just can't believe even half of this. Drusus lied, he turned down their offer, other emperors probably did the same. The parent's manipulated their emotional moments to snare an emperor into their will unconditionally. Drusus let Meera die cuz he didn't give into their demands? Or that's at least what it sounds like, I'm merely guessing at the strings, maybe even Amicus's father was the same for the mother? If I had any doubts about the parents being twisted they are gone now and that's only after a single word, regardless of the rest of this, that they uttered...submit. No one with good intentions EVER uses that word; despite their overwhelming knowledge, the threat of Other, the goals in mind, and the decisions I just can't see them that good...but...I can say its not purely evil either, just twisted and manipulative. Believe me I have experience with that. Also on a personal note, I'd immediately choose the decision NOT to go back to earth, just to clear that up...for now lets just spend more time with Amicus :) thank you once again for tugging on my steel heart strings I LOVE THAT WOLF...I still hope the design change will simply be to freshen his look rather than changing it

will there be a build 13.5 like last time or was that a one-time thing

CrossB

Small issue on Andriod; Updating version will not work. Just need to copy your saves folder to a location that is not within the adastra data folder, uninstall 12.5, and install 13! Run it to give it storage access then move the saves folder into adastra 13's data folder!

I hope the next few updates is just amicus and the MC enjoying their 9 months together uwu these characters deserve a break from torment for awhile before they head back in for more

Anonymous

Finally. An update that didn't make my heart race or make me scream in frustration at the to be continued screen.

Anonymous

I feel like I’m one of the few people who doesn’t hold a grudge against the patents. Despite all of the manipulation, I feel that the need to prevent the potentially apocalyptic threat of The Other justifies many of their actions.

Anonymous

I feel like your opinion might be different were you actually the MC. I understand their motivations, but that doesn't mean I would like it were I in his shoes.

BlackWolf007

I freakin LOVED this update!!!.. The freakin FEELS!!!!

Osiris Jackal

I grew up in a religious household so i sorta grasp both sides of this.

LLVPandaSevron

The scope of the parents and the other makes this less a battle of right and wrong or even of morals. To manipulate people, to use creatures with a strong sense of emotion, the cold calculation of the parents is natural to assure their goals. It's not that it's right or wrong just...woefully unfair...because we have what they transcended and emotions are a part of mortal life

Xenin

This was a cool update story wise, patch wise though not so much as I had to start over again because it let me load my old saves. Still story wise, it was heartfelt and it was interesting what has happened to the characters since then. As for the future, I think it would be awesome if this story had a sequel, but based on the planet Khemia, would be awesome to the planet of the Jackals and I hope the main character is a Human again, maybe not the same one, but a Human nonetheless, as I am a fan of humanxfurry. :)

Anonymous

Late comment, but I just noticed something. Did the parents heal Amicus too? He seemed fine when the MC woke up despite his injuries before merging with the archive.

Anonymous

If this game ends how I think it will then I hope you will consider making two VN where one shows the events of MC's time on earth getting them ready to join the wolves and another of Amicus time during whatever he has to do to prepare.

So glad to be back receiving this amazing story take my money and use it well

*Don't read if you aren't up to date* So someone mentioned wanting a wedding and now I can't get this out of my head. Like, Imagine how beautiful a scene walking to the altar with amicus allready waiting for you could be. How fullfilling it would feel to have him put a ring (or what ever they use) on your finger to officially make you his for the entire galaxia to see. Maybe even have neferu escort you there as a sign of khemanian friendship idk. How funny it could be to tease cassius with being his brother-in-law now and how adorable it could be to see virginia trying to open-up a bit more. I could totally see this as something amicus would want and mc would 100% say yes. This would be such a wholesome and romantic way of closing this chapter of adastra and considering that they have 9 months to prepare it's totally reasonable aswell. (Also, honeymoon? Pleeeaasee??)

Anonymous

Not to mention that it would solidify mc's position on earth aswell, which is something he really needs to do anyways. If he where to go there as is he'd just be some individual that was randomly choosen and I don't think everyone would take him 100% serious. Don't forget that he is just about 20 after all and our politicians don't exactly have the best track-record of listening to younger people. They would probably just try to replace him with someone who would be more appropriat in their eyes, someone they have more control over which would turn mc into a possible hinderance for them aka endanger him. But the emperors husband? Not much they could argue with there. He'd turn from the current tool of communication to alien royalty.

ravenzer0

can't believe cass has the gall to complain about being embarrassed considering how he acted during the trials. Also it feels like he lost so much edge and his character is a lot less interesting all of a sudden.

Anonymous

Him being married to an alien emperor would give him a form of immunity but I feel like it would make humanity trust him less. I honestly don't see how the MC can do this in eight years. At the very least, the MC has to somehow get the United Nations to reform into something resembling a functional global government with the exclusive ability to engage in diplomacy and trade with the rest of the galaxy. Good luck getting nationalistic nations like the United States, China, Great Britain, Russia, and others to cede sovereignty like that to a globalist government, and good luck getting THAT government to cede sovereignty to the Parents. Even worse, think on how the MC now has to tell 7.8 billion people that their gods are a lie or at the very least corrupted versions of the original parent-worshiping religions (assuming that the parents were ever worshiped on Earth at all, but I like to imagine that siblings brought their religons with them and the Parents have been subtly manipulating the development of Earth ever since they uplifted the siblings, considering that humans were as intelligent 20,000 years ago as we are today). That alone could spark global unrest and maybe even war, especially if a new Parent-worshiping religion springs up. People are gonna see the MC as a messenger, a prophet, a messiah, and the antichrist, so I really don't see how the MC can do this in eight years without sparking some sort of global conflict. Unless of course something bad happened to Earth since the MC was abducted. If that is the case, then all the MC has to do is put the pieces back together since I'm sure a devastated humanity would willingly listen to the prophet of alien gods promising salvation and advanced technology.

Anonymous

I feel like you are being overly optimistic. True, not everyone is religious, but a LOT of people are. There are estimated to be around 2.4 billion Christians, and around 1.8 billion muslims, and hundreds of millions of adherents to other religions. In fact, large-scale secularism really only exists in parts of Europe and Asia. People who adhere to a religion of some sort outnumber secularists over 7 to 1. Even if the parents don't consider themselves to be gods, they still have done NOTHING to prevent the siblings from creating religions in their name. Hell, they have control over the afterlife. That's gonna seem pretty godlike to to humanity, and I have no doubt that a new parent-worshiping religion will pop up that disrupts established religious institutions. Regarding the unification of our species, there is no way the Parents are gonna except anything less than a unified global government. Nations that don't accept this, and there will be many, will be rogue elements that can undermine everything. And sure, the promise of advanced technology will entice billions, but billions more won't like the strings attached. Amicus said that humanity will need to submit to the parents. Even ignoring the religious implications, a lot of people will not like Earth being under the authority of interdimensional aliens. This is not going to be as easy or simple as you think.

Anonymous

I have no doubt that the parents have some infallible plan that can be completed in eight years that will work if the MC does as they say. I'm just saying that because of all the factors I listed above, drastic action might be required to remove the barriers that stand in the way of Earth's integration with the galaxy. The religion stuff will be rough because we are talking about the collapse of major religions with millennia of history practically overnight and there will always be hardliners who will never except it, just look at the middle east for an example of that. Humanity will eventually recover and adapt to a shock like that, but it is gonna be rough in the short term. Political unification could be feasible with relatively little conflict as long as nations remain more or less autonomous, while the United Nations has the exclusive right to speak and act for Earth on the galactic stage, sorta like the Systems Alliance in Mass Effect. There will be some difficult nations to deal with, but I can see it happening. The effect this has on global religions and the issues surrounding the creation of a global government are huge problems, but I wouldn't call them insurmountable. The promise of advanced technology and a place in the galaxy as equals beside the siblings are certainly things that will make things go smoother and can mitigate the chances of some major war, and I could see integration with the galaxy happening even if it gets rocky sometimes were those the only factors. However, the Parents are asking humanity to submit to them. That is a tall order and the biggest issue by far. I'd like to see the MC use the archive to ask the parents about the specifics of this mission, because at the moment we really know nothing about how they want to do this.
