I know making of photos can be HELLA boring (compared to the final result) but here is a costume I’m hoping to finish the first part of the year. It’s a somewhat simple costume that you can buy at most Halloween stores, so I wanted to make sure to add some of my own touches, starting with the “diamonds”

This is the same technique used in my squirrel girl and captain America to create a flexible “padded” look

Using foam I spray adhesive it down to fabric, And then adhere the fabric on the top (like a sandwich) using anything rounded edge to work the edges in. Now on some industrial machines that have a foot that lets you get SUPER tight to see along the edge but for those of you on a home machine, you can use your zipper foot.

From there I peel the two layers and trim back JUST the bottom layer of fabric and then make the small cuts on the points to lessen the amount of fabric. On the top and bottom, then Apply super 77 again. Fold the top layer over the bottom layer and then once you have the distance all even around you can use your tool or floss container :P to press the edges down. The whole point is to avoid as much mass on the edge to empathize the lip. Then when you are ready just sew it down to the fabric using the same stitch line.

I recommend if you aren’t going to catch the fabric flipped under with a stitch I would use copydex. Things like super 77 or ironon interface will tend to come unstuck much sooner than copydex. Takes me about 20 minutes to do one... but then again I am distracted by the cooking shows.. only 11 more to go!

So! Any guesses whose costume these are for??
