It grabbed us by our nude-art roots and violently ripped our gaze from the dark and rocky road... simultaneously, our eyes magnetized to the stark white jagged lines of this lone being: a living dead tree. Perhaps it was ancient, perhaps the elevation withered it, or perhaps the goddess Pele herself choked the life out of it. Whatever it was, it's presence was bold.

But we were racing to catch the sunrise on a cliffside a half a mile up the road... "We'll shoot that on our way back". We both agreed. Photoghrapher Art of Women and I conquered this demon after expressing erotic beauty at sunrise (I made a post about our PHOTOS  and VIDEO  from the sunrise shoot last Dec, as well!)

*** Ramblings of New Fear of sharing my nude video art ***

I have been a nude model for 11 years, I thrive between the fringes of what’s considered “indecent” and what’s accepted as “fine art”.

Well, the camera has inevitably ended up in my own hands. For video, not stills. The creation process is so healing, I just had an amazing video shoot (I hired actors and shot them) and I can’t stop fantasizing about how much awesomeness we created!!!

It was a nude art project.

I share my nude modeling work all the time, and my whole family knows I pose nude. Now I have a new insecurity: I shoot nude video.

Wow, that sounds more like “porn” than anything…

Well anyone can be the judge of that, I am pretty confident my work may be viewed as artistic over gratuitous.

But am I gratuitous? Do other artists who depict nudes feel conflicted about where to show their nude art, and which sets of eyes to hide their art from?

I am getting butterflies in my stomach just running over in my head the upcoming gallery show I am participating in. Is the studio owner going to think it's innapropriate?

I have even gone so far as to make a few “SFW” versions of the nude art videos that I have created. (By cropping out nipple, or just using alternative shots)

I am more “comfortable” showing “SFW” work…. But if I want my visions to be more impactful, more controversial, should I allow the nipples to show? AUGH

Let me know what you think.

Isn't art supposed to put boundries?

The most famous performance artists have done nude work or have their life constantly in danger. Same with painters, etc... the best work makes you feel an emotion: disgust, sadness, anger, love, lust, etc.
