Here is the unbetaed chapter 91 of the Odds were never in my favour.

The title is Second Task.

Obviously, since it is a Task-chapter, it is a big chapter (21 000 words to be accurate).

I'm going to take a few days of break, and then the preparations for a story which shouldn't be named will begin.

It is 11-1 time, and the flames of Exctinction are coming ever closer.

Hopefully, if the muses cooperate, I will begin writing this epic chapter before the 16th. The plan (such as it is) is to have it ready for the end of January.

After that, we will return to Let the Galaxy Burn...

Thank you and as always may those Muses always Grace your writing endeavors

Thanks, I thought the callback to Dudley's tail was especially amusing.

Well...Romanov definitely has an ego big enough to rival her Animagus form. Deliberately destroying the arena and forgoing the points and final clue, not to mention executing her classmate for cowardice, ain't she just a ray of sunshine.... Geoffrey might not be too happy with Alex, he wasn't informed about the skin rule and was permanently disabled (granted, not sure he could've done anything against that abomination, best move would've been to just forfeit tbh) Alex accounting for more than half her entire school's points smh. At this rate, she'll go hunchbacked from carrying so hard, hydra or no.

Yeeah, dark queen is bunsh of sunshine... And alex needs to buy carry pants if it gets even harder :p That lust champion got cooked nicely

Doesn't quite match up to the first, but that's not a surprise, still a wild ride. I do need some help to figure out - what exactly triggered the seal? Not summoning a divine aspect, given the disapproval. Also, just one seal? Eleven are left, right? For five tasks...

Yep, but the Judges have obviously to 'test' the Champions about different things. First, because it's more or less fair: someone bad at Runes (he says innocently) must have an opportunity to compensate for the loss of points. Secondly, if everything was about to be sum-up about 'Champions get thrown with a dangerous beastie in the Coliseum', it would be exactly surprising for the spectators...

This was a nice surprise to find in my inbox! Yeah, Alex is carrying Hogwarts hard here. Pity that Alex didn't get that third clue but she got enough to get her on the right track and Im sure throwing the Crocodiles around was very impressive. Looking forward to seeing the reaction in the next chapter.

So, I see that Chaos will be well-matched against... a Primarch? Or maybe, Weaver? Crossover!!! lol

She could easily go to Lust and demand the clue - "and I'll forgive your manipulation, just this once". It might even work, as a blow to the ego is painful, and Lust wouldn't really want her to 'pay extra attention', having seen just how much fun being a target is.

Antony444

A Primarch would likely be overkill for any Champion, lol. The Emperor created to be murder against any monster and witches...plus they're more or less supercalculators in terms of strategy.

But but but... Fenris... Loki? lol Is Loki similar to Tzeentch?

The funniest thing would be Champion Ron Weasley in the seventh round... ;)

Antony444

It's not technically impossible (grin)...and if this happens, Gryffindor is screwed. Unless it's about chess, of course (grin).

Antony444

I won't deny the Power of Chaos has some similarity to the manipulative bird, but there are also major differences. No 'free' mutation for one, and Loki relatively supports the ambitions of his Champions and doesn't try to screw with them at the worst possible moment.

Lol I just realized Malatesti basically created a Glaurung. No wonder Alex was so pissed, shame she didn't have a witty Tolkien quote ready to annoy Hermione. And your description of Krum, an international sports star who can't convincingly fake an injury...is that a subtle diss on professional football players I see there hmm? 😏

So Antony, I have a question that is somewhat concerning to me: how long will this year go on for? There are 5 tasks remaining and my guess is one task every 5 chapters. This means around 25 chapters until the end of the book. Given that you release one chapter per month, this book would only be finished in 2 years and 1 month time. And you have 3 more books to write! I love this story and have been following your works for years but I would like to know how it ends and to see it’s conclusion. I would like to hear your thoughts on this though.

If you take your mind out of the constraints of the original canon. Then this is a fantasticly paced web novel and story. It only becomes galing when you place the expectation of the original seven book structure on it.
