Here is the chapter 90 of The odds were never in my favour, Crocodile Time.

Enjoy!

Due to the cold, Real Life, and many other things, I haven't been able to write as much as I wanted this week. As such next week I will try to write An Impractical Guide to Godhood's next chapter. I don't know if the update will be before Christmas (which I'm not spending near a computer, exceptionally, so yeah...) but I will do my best. Next week of December will likely be the writing of chapter 91, and the Second Task of the European Magical Tournament...

Thanks for the chapter! This chapter was really fun, with the fleshing out of the various Champion's groups and their personalities and the conflict that is arising between them. I also really liked the focus on the aftereffects of the triggering of the First Seal and the Black Pyramid, well that and more exposure to Ginny as she moves more into Alex's orbit. Man, Dumbledore must be fuming. Other than Alex, everybody at Hogwarts has performed abysmally. I wonder if the various Governors are going to point fingers because Hogwarts is being humiliated on the world stage from 60 years of academic sabotage that Dumbledore oversaw.

All hail the fearless croco wrestlers. Now I have to wait for a month before we get an image of how Malatesti will look, when he is shown the arena lake with the giant Crocodiles. But because there is not all that much to say about this chapter I will continue with my looks into the (very) unreliable crystal ball: - Lyudmilla and Alexandra will meet each other in the Arena before the finale and it will end in a draw or a defeat for Alexandra - In task nr. 3 Malatesti chops off Alexandras head ... but not before being taunted "If you strike me down, I shall become more powerful than you ever imagined." - Alexandra Potter, moments before she is decapitated It ends of course with a certain hydra making its first public appearance and redecorating the arena - Someone (most likely Lyudmilla) deciding, that making fears real in the arena is the way to go ... it ends poorly, because of Alexandra. A light sided Mirror Alexandra gets created, then that mirror Alex decides to pull no punches, gets the real excalibur into the arena and begins to demolish the field ... it ends with Loki screaming into his champions brain for her to end the spell or ward. "Stop it. STOP IT NOW! The Morrigan is going to kill me, and her champions will do the same to you if you don't STOP THAT RIGHT NOW!" -A panicked Loki to Lyudmilla, during that task

What is not to like with the misunderstood animal which is the crocodile (grin)?

You're welcome. Glad you enjoyed it. And yes, I had really fun developing the Champions involved in the Second Task and everything playing around. Dumbledore is fuming, and should the bad results persist,, well...his position as Headmaster is going to be considerably weakened. After all, the problem of relying upon Alexandra for everything is that should she fail to win a Task, the poor scores will be all too evident since it's a tree hiding the forest of humiliation...

Ahh Malatesti, you really dun goofed. And here I thought you were going to finally dominate a round. The Light resembles headless chickens as far as strategic competence is concerned. To be honest, it was a bit unrealistic seeing them act like butt monkeys over and over again, but after the revelation that they altered the rules so they are *destined* to win, I understand now it's because they are too used to Fate doing the heavy lifting. And on a related note, the Exchequer once again demonstrates their mastery of loophole abuse. Seriously, if they were not an organization of evil overlords they would make an excellent law firm.

So Antony I have two questions for you! (It’s the question man he’s back!) that are unrelated to this chapter but I believe are related to each other as they are all about Mother Russia! 1. The opinion of magical Russians of Communism. I think we all know about the IRL result of the Russian Revolution was (it’s called the Russian REVOLUTION after all) but in magical Russia the Communists appeared to have lost, or perhaps they never revolted to begin with. Since Magical Russia (and the whole magical world really) seems like it is pretty aristocratic and is still ruled by a Tzar. Surely they can’t have the highest opinion of the group that drove the non magical branch of their ruling families extinct and killed and exiled the nobility but I want to know! And this is extra important because of: 2. What is Magical Russia’s relationship with muggleborns? This answer is heavily linked with the answer to the communism question is as Russian Muggleborns will probably be communist and may not be too eager at the idea of bending the knee to a Tzar.

But why kill the muggles when they can just memory wipe?

So Antony, what would happen in the amusing case where the champion and their 4 replacements were eliminated or too injured to participate? Use replacements from other champions?
