Okay, the work was sent to the betas and properly received, so here is the pre-beta final version of Ovation 9.1 with some plot twists I think no one has seen coming.

Happy hours of reading and all this cheerfulness since while the chapter is smaller than the two Interludes before it, it's still 40 000 words. I will try to keep the next Ovation posts around that size, but you know what they say about hell and good intentions...

Ah well. Hope it will satisfy the eager minds of the readers and make for a few moments forget the terrible Real Life.

Enjoy!

By the Emperor Antony, here I was about to go to bed, and you update! Anyway, if that 'half naked female Drukhari from Commorragh' ISN'T who I think it is, I'll eat my left shoe. And that, of course, begs the question: WHY!? ...unless it's all a giant joke from Cegorach that's not nearly as funny as it should be. Is it just me, or are Cegorach, Aeneria, and Trazyn in a run-and-gun battle to decide the title of 'Giver of the Most Headaches to Taylor?'

Silver Wolf

Loved the chapter, great work as always. Only question I have was that I thought Taylor disapproved of the Schola Progenium in general.

Boris Michenski

Who do you think about? Because it's surelly not Malys a,d it can hardly be the Avatar and noone else comes in mind.

Boris Michenski

Well, so the Ovation starts... Vandire will probably have a stroke should he know that Taylor is glad it's not a Triumph. Biel-Tan... I liked this part, every one starting from it's last commander and up to leader of Black Templars did learn a lesson. Supreme Exarch died well, even if he failed to achieve anything. Vista is going to the war! Rebel fortresses will not stand for long as her shard is clearly looking forward to be used. So a satelit fully given to Ants so that they may live there in peace, paying with Bacta. Well, let's hope it works for a long long time.

Stormstar1995

Mark VIII? shouldn’t that be Mark VII as you said previously that Taylor had all the Space Armour schematics currently available, apart from terminator Armour and she only had up to VII.

Antony, another great chapter. Thank you!

frank schellingerhout

as always thx for the words and if taylor want pay back for missy for all the i told you so joke's she could just build sparta building with missy standing over it

Antony444

She isn't exactly fond of it, no. Zuhev will have several restrictions other Schola Progenium don't have.

Antony444

I will check later. I am exhausted and I won't re-read the chapter this hour, sorry.

Antony444

Yeah, Xerxes Vandire would seethe with rage if he knew Taylor is not that bothered about not getting a triumph. And yes, it is going to work, the ants have a very favourable deal...

We all bow ! Next marine armor iron man maybe Starcraft.

My suggestion for the armour template name is Maximilian

Dale

I almost blue-screened at the 'package' the Great Fool had 'delivered', though I happen to have a BURNING desire to have an Omake about everyone frantically chasing after the message-deliverer. And if/when written, I intend to have Yakkity Sax running on endless repeat........

Antony444

Onwards for the Great Hunt, we need Harlequin on the barbecue tonight brothers!

Jeremy

You know that last scene with the Harlequin makes me think Cegorach may not have been joking so much suggesting Taylor as a future Eldar Goddess.

Great chapter as usual, I just have a quick question, will ancient Rylanor make an appearance anytime soon?

Antony444

Rylanor will definitely appear in Arc 9 and play a big role. I can't evidently confirm when he will arrive at Nyx.

Confused

Well done as always Antony can't wait to see the queen of blades emissary's reaction to her being delivered to Taylor.

Regan

Was that... was that the host of slanesh ? Or an emissary as previously commented? Either way... lolz

Regan

After re reading it turns out it was just an emissary... but a slice of life story about not-Slaanesh andTaylor would be very funny... although heretical

The GrandMage

. . . Now I'm really interested to see how many Eldar will acknowledge her as their Empress. Granted, the Empire is gone, so it would just be the pomp and ceremony without any of the actual power. That should just delight Taylor to learn.

Antony444

Don't worry, you will have some of the reaction...it's too funny not to.

Antony444

For the moment, the number is close enough to zero to be counted on one hand. They recognise her as a trigger-happy maelstrom of violence it is best to avoid at all costs, which isn't already that bad...

Re. Assassin's Creed, it should be remarkably easy to change it to a sanctioned assassin hunting heretics, hereteks, aliens and/or criminals in the underhive, add in some investigative work against traitors... the Inquisition/Arbites might actually sponsor such a thing. it actually has potential. Regarding tank and aeronautica games, I recall a research paper showing professional gamers having rather frail constitutions, but reflexes comparable with fighter pilots. Actually useful.

You know, I can't help but wonder, but what was the fate of Pius Hoth in the end ? I was expecting a point of view of his painfull demise, or even a paragraph talking about him, but the last time we heard of him was when the punition of Shai Tan was given to Scarlet. Is that the last we will heard of him or can we still expect something more ?

Antony444

The Arbites has no 'sanctioned' assassins, not truly. Their agents always try to bring the accused back alive for their trials, they are justice, not an organised guild of killers. The Inquisition and the Assassinorum have their resources of pet killers, but the former don't advertise it high and loud, and the latter are not recruiting anywhere near Nyx...thanks the God-Emperor for that.

Antony444

Pius Hoth was sentenced to the Punishment of Shai-Tan, exactly like Scarlet Kade was. There may be a few mentions of him later, but I am certainly not going to show his death...it's w40k, but come on.

Given that the next campaign is against Chaos (presumably), I wonder if Taylor can wrest insects and insect-type daemons from Nurgle's control. If it worked on Necron scarabs... plus Anathma power.

Antony444

Without spoiling anything Necron constructs are special cases...and obviously you will have to wait before Taylor confronts a Nurgle host before having your answer.

primus

I suppose it's impossible for someone like Cawl to keep his ego in check. He no doubt has forgotten more than the Fabricator General will ever know, and has worked more closely with the Emperor and his Primarchs than any High Lord or Inquisitor save Malcador. It is amusing when others try to tell him what to do.

Vortiboy27

Who is the Drukhari that was thrown at Taylor? I know of only Malys and the Queen of Blades that were prominent Drukhari but this is rather, out of field. Also I got back because the last 3 days had some pretty depressing reads from sad chapters to authors bowing out entirely. So yeah, time will tell if I will stick around next month, since Im gonna be playing Cyberpunk and I may not have time to go back to subscribe again.

primus

It is the Queen of Blades' emissary who is supposed to oversee the arena which she was promised.

Antony444

Yep, that's a big problem with Cawl. The 1% he is able to show to the galaxy is sufficient to make the most brilliant Archmagi ignorant children, never mind the top-secret projects like Primaris and the likes who are in his deepest and most secret vaults. His ego is at the measure fo his creations...but most of the Imperium don't know that, and think he needs a few thousand punishments to teach him some humility...

Kioras

This chapter shows the interesting comparison between the actions of Dragon and Cawl. Both are innovators, however they follow different things paths. Dragon is used to working within an organization , has a personality that is very easy to get along with and does not flaunt her superiority over her nominal equals or superiors. Cawl is well, Cawl. Not much more needs to be said. Dragon is a major innovator but she currently has shown a preference for easily mass produced items that can be useful in numbers for the Imperium. She also has shown an interest to work off of the Imperiums tech base by optimizes already known items with other known items, so that the history can easily be documented. I think a major thing is that Dragon probably is quite willing to sell her technology back to other Forge Worlds and what has been shown is not something that screams Hersay. Dragon is also helped by the fact that she is one of a Living Saints best friends, especially when the Mechanicus also like this logical Living Saint who finds such important databases.

Antony444

Indeed, indeed, you have summed-up very well the differences between the Radical and the Tinker.

Matt.Silver

Excellent work as always. The only thing that bothered me was the fact that the schematics that are being drawn upon for the Mark VIII upgrades did not include the Angel's Tear Template. Human armour to upgrade transhuman armour rather than using a Knight/Titan template. As for the Eldar emissary, I wonder if there was a reason behind such a humiliating introduction to Taylor’s court… Eldar: I am Aenaria’s seneschal and now her arena ambassador. Taylor: Are you? Because being thrown like a present is not the proper way to introduce yourself if you are. Eldar: That was… part of my punishment. Taylor: Punishment? I’m not sure I want a failure or a criminal Eldar to serve as a laison between myself and Aenaria. Tell me, what did you do to deserve this humiliation? Eldar: Well, as Aenaria’s seneschal, it was my job to keep track of various armies, powerful individuals and battlefields throughout the galaxy; and present to her options about where and who she might like to fight. My guidance led her to a battlefield against a powerful Ork warboss, which she enjoyed fighting. However, the distance from that battlefield to Commorragh was… substantial, so when you attacked, it took us a considerable amount of time to return. Due to my failure to predict the Second Fall and taking us to a location far away from the Dark City, Aenaria only got to enjoy half of the battle. While she understands that predicting such an event was nigh impossible, she is still annoyed with me and so my… humiliating method of transport. Taylor: I see. So you are saying that it is your fault that Aenaria was late to the Battle of Commorragh? Eldar: Essentially. I understand that such a blunder my undermine your opin- Taylor: I take it back. I accept you as arena ambassador. Eldar: …pardon? Taylor: Everyone makes mistakes, and I just suddenly have a very good feeling about having you around.

Hey Antony, according to lore the last place the Fireblade was seen was on Istvan during the battle between Fulgrim and Ferrus. Is there any chance its still on Istvan?

Antony444

No, absolutely not. The Iron Hands were all slaughtered before, during, and after their Primarch was killed. Why in the Warp would the Emperor's Children fail to seize such a priceless weapon when there is no one to protect it?

Anonymous

Hi , do you know when the release chapter, might be done?

Antony444

No. Best guess is the end of the month, because it's the date I gave to the betas, but truthfully it will be when they sent the corrected work done, and after that a couple of days to assimilate all the changes and the ideas introduced. I haven't received any beta back for now. The chapter, while lighter than interludes, is still huge...
