Patreon on the Apple App Store (Patreon)

Alright so if you haven't heard the news, starting in November, 2024, Patreon, in order to stay on the Apple App Store, is going to be subject to Apple's 30% commission on in-app purchases. Patreon has given creators the option to either let Apple take 30% of any pledges done through iOS, or increase prices on iOS users. I chose to go with the price increase on iOS users. It's a shitty choice to make regardless. From my understanding, it is not applied retroactively.

I don't use iOS anything so I have no idea if NSFW Creators are even viewable through the iOS app. As well, I don't know how many of my patrons access me through the iOS app because the traffic information page does not offer that information. Apparently though, on iOS if you access Patreon through your browser rather than the app, you can bypass the app store commission altogether. Therefore, I would recommend doing that if you are on iOS.

Due to Apple rules, app developers are not allowed to inform customers that there are cheaper alternatives if you purchase outside of the app store. Since I am not the app developer, there is nothing stopping me from doing so. Therefore, I will be editing the descriptions of the different tiers with the relevant information for any potential patrons who are using the iOS app.
