The funniest part is that 'self-driving' horses was sometimes a thing. You see, my Dad grew up on a farm in the '30s and '40s, and he didn't have a car of his own but he could use one of their horses. Sometimes he'd go on a date and after dropping the girl off at home he'd get the horse going and just doze in the carriage. He'd wake up when the horse stopped at the barn door, and didn't say there were ever any problems with the arrangement.
