If you follow my other projects at all, you'll know I just released the Alpha update for Sexy Quest.  It's a new JRPG that I'll be working on alongside Zombie's Retreat 2.

With that game, I sort of opened pandora's box by experimenting with a new resolution in order for the battle menus to not feel so scrunched.  I up-scaled the game by 25% and immediately fell in love with it.

By default, RPGMaker games are in 816x624 which is what ZR1 is in and what ZR2... used to be in.

So I had the crazy idea of re-rendering all of the current animations/CG to be 25% larger!

 Normally, I shrink the images down to fit in the 816x624 but now i'll shrink them down to 1020x780 which means the image quality will be just as sharp while the size increases.

== No Delay Needed ==

I have to re-size and re-add all of the character busts, CG, and animations but that's mostly just tedious work.  I believe I have kept every single animated frame so I don't think I'll run into any real issues with this 25% conversion.

Save files should also be unaffected so no worries about that.

== Black Screen Issue ==

Normally, if an animation is too large, many Android users and some PC users (usually with older integrated graphics chips) have a black screen pop up over the image.

This is a big reason why ZR1 is in the size it's in and why the animations have the set frame count that they do.  It's a nice sweet spot.

I was worried that increasing the size may ruin the sweetspot, but I did a test on my Android device and animations seems to run just fine.  I was able to re-create the black screen issue on House Chores so this test is a fairly sound one.

This is possibly my biggest concern but I really feel the reward outweighs the risk.  Considering I was able to play the scene just fine on my Android device reassures me that this should work for most/all players as well.

=====

I can't think of any red flags with this decision now that I've done some small testing.  Let me know what you all think about this change.  It doesn't sound like much, but the 25% increase to the screen size really enhances the experience.

The update is still planned to release this month!  Gotta buckle down and get most of this stuff up-scaled but I still think I'll have plenty of time.

Thank you all so much for your support and I'll see you soon with more news & updates!
