Saturday Update! (Patreon)

I apologize for the somewhat late Update today, I had a very... difficult morning. I'll tell that story in a bit, but let's start with the basic work stuff.

I'm happy to report that I had a very productive week!

I've completed the placeholder process for all of Day 2- which was a fairly challenging day to complete since hammer/drill paths are totally different and both required a lot of work.

Last week I finished up Hammer Path and some finishing touches on the path. I was able to move a bit more quickly since my computer was working better and I didn't need a whole lot of new placeholders.

In general work actually went very smoothly and I got a lot done. I'm thankful for that!

Unfortunately, I've had some bad luck in other areas. My new computer and monitor arrived [ after fighting with UPS for 3 days to get the computer... ] but it seems my monitor is a lemon. It flickers violently, even when not connected to any device.

So, I had to put it all back in the box and get a return label printed from Dell. I plan to drop the computer off tomorrow. The box got a little wet so I hope that doesn't prevent me from getting a refund... I'll get to why in a bit.

Now I need to find a new monitor to use my new computer. I think I'll try driving into the city and shopping in person for one on Sunday.

I do think the computer is okay at least. I wasn't able to perform a data transfer [ another issue, my wifi wasnt strong enough and I had no thunderbolt cable ], but everything up until the data transfer did seem to be functioning just fine.

It doesn't really matter that I couldn't perform the transfer anyway- I have no monitor now and I'm still doing work in the meantime, so I'd rather transfer that new work.

To be honest, that stuff is annoying but I've had such poor luck with this sort of stuff, I pretty much expected it. I was a little stressed but nothing crazy.

The real thing the broke me was just this morning. A handyman came and looked at my dishwasher last week and said it was fine. So I tried running it this morning.

Water started pouring out again. I thought I was ready this time, I had towels ready. But this time it wouldn't stop filling. It just kept pouring hot water into it, and pouring the water out into the kitchen. My towels weren't enough. I had to put dishes under and keep switching them every 3 seconds. Water just kept pouring and pouring and I couldn't get it to stop. 

I started crying and trying to phone my dad, trying to knock on my managers door, trying to get anyone to help me. Trying to get the water to stop. Still switching the dishes and pouring them out in my sink every 3 seconds.

Eventually it finally stopped but everything was soaked and I was in my shittiest pajama top with my dad and the manager and the managers son in my apartment just sobbing. It was humiliating and traumatic, and my legs are so sore from essentially doing squats while crying for 20 mins. 

So I'm just... I'm okay now, but it was a hard fucking morning. My towels are still dripping over my bathtub. I'm just tired of things going wrong.

But it's fine now. It stopped finally. My dad showed me how to shut the valve to the dishwasher so this will never happen to me again. The manager said she'll call the repairman and scream at them [ lol... everyone has more energy than me ] and I'm sure she'll help me get it fixed eventually.

I'll just keep washing my dishes by hand. And I'll go buy a new monitor on Sunday. And I'll use an ethernet cable to do the data transfer. I have answers to all these problems.

I just need rest. I need some time where something doesn't fuck up for a bit.

Oh, and I do have a little other spark of good news. That person who was spreading my Patreon WIPs on tiktok actually contacted me. They took down the video and they apologized. I was really relieved and happy. Sincere apologies are rarer than diamonds, I know how valuable they are. I'm very grateful.

Anyway, that's enough complaining.

The important thing is I got a lot of work done, and I'm gonna keep working next week. My old computer is still doing its job.
