Gunwild: I feel like a cape would probably create drag and even pain at those speeds.
Psu: The alligator is Satellite 9's favorite character. Or is it a crocodile?
Gunwild: The nose is more alligator-y, but hey, he's an alien, don't box him in by deciding he's just like an Earth animal!
Psu: Heh, this was another page with a lot of new designs. Coming up with a bunch of random bad guy racers and different bikes is always a neat challenge but also very liberating. If I were a team of concept artists working on one shot for months, we'd have the luxury of being very careful with making the best background characters we can. Like take any Star Wars scene and most of those characters had days of work put into them. Me though, I just add some extra eyeballs or make a weird vaguely engine like shape and one of them is a Crocogator and we're good to go.
Gunwild: The speeders luckily are mostly big, geometric shapes, which I think is effective but doesn't demand a lot of repeat detail work from them. Although I do like the scary teeth on the front of that one's grille, there.
Psu: Maybe we can share Tristan's graphic?
Gunwild: Yeah, we can link that.
Psu: I still had to fit in a couple important story things though. Like you have Mercy right there in the middle of the frame. But a much sneakier one is Penny's Eyebot floating back to her! It's different than the other TV Camera drones floating around.
Gunwild: I don't know if we mentioned that Cassiopeia's normal outfit is highlighted in white on this other outfit. But I like that.
Psu: Cassiopeia's bike outfit is probably one of my favorite outfits in the series. I might say that a lot but I think the racing outfit really comes together well. This page however, looking at it again I'm noticing a number of shortcuts I took to get it out on time. In high res you can see that the bike in panel 2 is just painted in, but so are her boots!
Gunwild: I like panel 2 though. It's really cool how it's actually a dialogue balloon coming from the phone.
Psu: Speaking of story telling, did we know that Nisa and the rest of the orphans were gonna be their own fully fleshed out character? Having Nisa borrow Zeke's hat was just kinda a way to show that Zeke wasn't really planning on going to work this chapter. And is getting along really well with these guys. But now the hat's just... Nisa's.
