I mean, let's be honest here, I love Macross and everything, but there IS a case to be made for it representing a tipping point in terms of anime pandering to the otaku crowd.  Not that anime wasn't already doing fanservice before this, or that there aren't a LOOOOT of shows that do way worse to enable the worst otaku behavior, but Macross definitely marks SOME kind of line being crossed in terms of blatant waifu marketing.  Just wanted to be clear, right off the bat, that I absolutely WILL be a jerk about that.

Oh, and just in case anyone was wondering, this is "page 0" instead of "page 1" because, honestly, I'd already written it before I even sat down to re-watch the first episode.  And then when I DID watch it, I came up with a whole other comic idea.  The whole point of labeling Weekly Anime Comics by "page" instead of "episode" is to give myself wiggle room if the comics and the episode count go out of sync (either because I skipped an episode or because I got multiple comics from the same one) but I still didn't want to have the page count go off IMMEDIATELY.  This way, next week's page will be the official "number one" and I'll have at least a few more weeks of it being really easy to remember which episode I watched last time.

But yeah!  Macross!
