It's that time again already?  Well, not really, but I don't like to rush things.  It's been a while since we last had a vote, and even longer since it was more than just a basic "Yes/No" choice, so I wanna make sure there's plenty of time to build some hype.

And yeah, after two seasons of Slayers and a season of Cardcaptor Sakura before it, I'm REALLY itching to watch something with robots and spaceships in it.  That's what really got me into Japanese Animation in the first place, after all.  So let's have a look at the options:

Armored Trooper Votoms.  Easily the most obscure option on the list, this early 80s series was one of the big, post-Gundam shows to really push towards a less kiddie, more mature take on the Mecha genre.  In the interest of full transparency, I must confess that this is the one show currently being offered up where I DON'T currently own the whole show physically yet.  Obviously, streaming it wouldn't be a problem, and that's assuming I didn't just use this as an excuse to go out and find the rest on disc.  Still, I felt obligated to point it out.

Tenchi Universe.  The only returning candidate from the last time we voted on a new series, I'm always up for revisiting an old favorite from the glory days of Toonami.  And just to be clear, I'm only nominating Universe here, the 1995 series.  Not the original OVA or any of the later stuff, and in the event that Universe won, I would NOT automatically be up for Tenchi in Tokyo.  I mean, if people overwhelmingly voted yes, I MIGHT do it, but for now this one series is all that's on the table.

Cowboy Bebop.  Well surely I don't have to explain THIS one.  It's the one show here I know everybody's at least heard of, AND it's the one I've personally seen the most times.  So not only would everybody know what I'm talking about, but I'd have the biggest head start on coming up with ideas.  Just a heads up, though, there will be absolutely, positively NO discussion of the live action remake if this wins.  Not even to harshly mock it.  It didn't happen.  It doesn't exist.

Super Dimension Fortress Macross.  Okay, I talked about Cowboy Bebop being the one show everybody knows, but honestly THIS is the show on this list to have the biggest impact of Otaku Culture, for better or worse.  Where would the entire concept of waifus be without Minmay?  Also, just to make sure we're all on the same page, I'm only nominating Macross in its original format here.  Not Robotech, and not Southern Cross or Mospaeda... although I actually DO own both those shows, so if Macross wins that MIGHT be a funny thing to offer up in the next vote, along with actual Macross sequels.  So keep that in mind as you vote!

And yes, those are all the choices being offered up this time.  I'm not doing a third season of Slayers, and I'm just not in the mood to offer to bring Carcaptors back just yet.  One way or another, we're getting spaceships, dang it!  Also, in theory, this vote will be open until I do the last episode of Slayers Next, though I might call it early if one of the candidates gets an insurmountable lead over the others.  So if you see one you want, don't wait around to vote for it!  And if you either don't have strong feeling about any of these shows or are only a Patron because you read Far Out There and don't care about any of this Conventional Wisdom stuff, I still strongly encourage you to vote for SOMETHING anyway.  Aside from the fact that the polls are a lot more fun to look at if there's more votes, it really does help me out to just have SOME kind of feedback.  Even if you only vote for the one name you recognize (or the one you DON'T just to be a troll) any input at all is good input.  So vote away, let's see what happens!
