A few facts:  First, I got sick AGAIN over the weekend, and this page turned out SUPER sloppy as a result.  Sadly, this is the VERY cleaned up version.

Second, this page shaped up as sort of the opposite of the second page.  It was written to be a bunch of random writer guys having a meeting, but then I realized how boring that looked and swapped them out with the mascots at the last minute.  So, sadly, there's no deeper significance to which anthropomorphized concept is saying what.

Third, I feel obligated to point out that I've never read the original books, so for all I know, the original source material only mentions Wiz's debut and the whole graveyard ordeal in flashback as well... but I REEEEAAAALLY doubt it.  And if that's actually what happens, it's TERRIBLE writing.  Jumping into a character's introduction in media res is all kinds of confusing, as is the fact that (as I mentioned) the plot they DO jump to is literally just the second half of that story.

Oh, and they do this AGAIN the very next episode with Kazuma being all "Oh, by the way, I became friends with these characters off-screen, just roll with it"

Meh, nobody's watching Konosuba for "story". Probably not, anyway. No need to let it get in the way of character-interaction and in-jokes. (now watch me get flamed by someone arguing how awesome the story is...sigh)

See, if they'd cut that plot out COMPLETELY, I'd understand. You know, introduce Wiz in a different, faster way, and have the team wind up with the mansion through other means. Adaptations streamline stuff like that all the time. It's specifically the fact that they still left in HALF the story, meaning they'd have to go back and reference the other half ANYWAY. I mean, that still eats up screentime, right? I dunno, it just seems like the least convenient way possible to do this (and believe you me, I am an EXPERT at finding the least convenient way to do things)
