Sponsorships (Patreon)

Hey everyone,

You may or may not know, but I am going through quite a tough time at the moment financially and in terms of housing security. Patreon has reached a point where it's paying my rent and bills, but my rent is about to go up 50%, so I'm going to go back from slightly comfortable to barely surviving.
It is primarily because of that, that when I got an offer for a sponsorship for this video, I took it. The money will make a huge difference to my ability to survive this period.

As ever, it is patreon that actually keeps this channel going. The sponsorship is helpful, but isn't nearly as much as the support I get from you wonderful people. Also, there is the possibility of an ongoing sponsorship if conversion from the ad spot is high, but it isn't a guaranteed bonus to my monthly earnings, whereas patreon is a reliable income. I'd much rather be in a situation where I don't need sponsorships, and hope to get there fairly soon, but even with the very pleasing rate my patreon has been going up, I just couldn't possibly expect it to reach that point fast enough.

I just wanted to make this post to update everyone and keep transparent about what's going on with my income and the channel, so nobody finds it a nasty surprise when I do my 60 second spot for Prager U in this video. I'm kidding obviously, it's not them.

Nonetheless, I do want to reach a point where this isn't necessary, and if the monthly average increase is anything to go by, I'll actually get there pretty soon. In the mean time I can stress over my video being a minute longer than it needs to be, disinterested people can skip through it, and anybody who wants to help make it a repeat sponsorship can click through and do the free trial and so on.
