Art Journal #04 (Patreon)

This week had been quite the ride. I manage to sketch all 34 pages of My 8bit Hero #3 and It was QUITE THE ACHIEVEMENT. I'm really getting used to making comics and this one in particular has come out quite well. I really got a hang on the whole sequential story telling, a concept that has eluded me now seems to really shine.

It was pretty hard to make a series of drawings that expressed an action that is taking place. Here on this page we see that Erick is tied and can't go help Kevin. Then he notices a rock on the ground with might help him cut his ropes. As he thinks how to get that rock he decides to remove his shoes and get it with his bare foot. A new meaning to "Staying on your toes".

I needed a way for Erick to jump to the action and help our ticklish hero, but how?, he was all tied up and no one to help him. Maybe he had a laser, a knife, a weapon, maybe an animal came by and helped him. But nothing really convinced me until this come to mind.

Again, this if the first time I had to help a character solve a problem in my comics. PLUS we got to see Erick's beautiful foot for the first time. X3

Esta semana ha sido bastante ajetreada. Me las arreglé para dibujar las 34 páginas de My 8bit Hero #3 y fue TODO UN LOGRO. Realmente me estoy acostumbrando a hacer comics y este en particular ha salido bastante bien. Realmente me estoy acostumbrando a las secuencias de la historia, un concepto que me ha eludido ahora parece brillar realmente.

Fue bastante difícil hacer una serie de dibujos que expresaron una acción que está teniendo lugar. Aquí en esta página vemos que Erick está atado y no puede ir a ayudar a Kevin. Luego nota una roca en el suelo que podría ayudarle a cortar las cuerdas. A medida que piensa cómo conseguir esa roca decide quitarse los zapatos y conseguirlo con su pie descalzo. Una nueva forma de trabajar los pies.

Necesitaba una manera para que Erick saltara a la acción y ayudara a nuestro héroe cosquilludo, ¿pero cómo?, estaba atado y nadie que pueda ayudarlo. Tal vez tenía un láser, un cuchillo, un arma, tal vez un animal llegó y lo ayudó. Pero nada me convenció hasta que esto me vino a la mente.

Esta es la primera vez que tuve que ayudar a un personaje resolver un problema en mis cómics. Además, pudimos ver el hermoso pie de Erick por primera vez. X3
