Hi Guys, Im designing a new character for my portfolio. Im experimenting with shapes and designs. This time I would like to try a Mech with a pilot. In this phase its important that the shape reads well. So here are my options. Please numbrer 3 options, wich one it seems more interesting for you?

Let me know what do you think.

I like #10, because it keeps the pilot's hands busy and away from her chest.

Julian Fratzscher

I like #6 and #9 most, but all are great.

Ford Prefex

So many great designs! Hard to choose but I guess my favs are #1, #7 and #8

1, 8, 10. live the idea that they're weightless inside

#3, #12 and then #11. I like the idea the characters are a drone's captives, not necessarily the pilots. But the drone should look more like a Tic Tac. : D

1, 3, 11 - like the floating ladies almost as if dreaming so they could be the thing's captive as much as a pilot controller suspended but for thoughts. Was close on 12 but the floating arms kind of hurt the 'suspension of disbelief' arguing a tech level that'd not need it. I'm sure IRL any civ that develops tech capable of going to other star systems needs to master gravity and have a good GUT (Grand Unified Theory) and it is probably 100% possible to make something like that (quantum entanglement on a macro scale) - but real tech <> what works in fiction.

#8 - having her lie down suggests she is calm and laid-back in combat while the mech wreaks havok which is an interesting personality #1 - a fairly standard mech that is clear and gives a good view of the pilot #10 - Owelins comment, keeps her hands busy so she can't hide her chest 😉 I would avoid any design that requires her to roll up into a ball. It makes it much harder to see her chest that way.

#13 – I like the unusual tripod leg design, and the small pair of dexterous hands positioned under the large weapon arms. It gives the impression that this mech is carefully designed for several versatile uses, not just blind combat. #09 – I like how the pilot’s body, particularly with the legs, is oriented to mimic how the slinking serpent body of the mech is positioned. #03 – This pilot’s body posture and angle feels like the most carefree one, and the mech has a very smooth, almost water-like appearance. These details combine together to give the mech a dream-like personality.

Depends, if it's a friendly character, #2 is more heroic, regular gun as a weapon for self defense. And an arm and hand for utility like climbing or grabbing. Very normal and not overpowered. If the character is an enemy, #9 for sure. Serpent body is intimidating, can be fast and fit through small spaces. The tail can be used to whip/slap enemies, or use the tail to grab them. Or grab enemies with hands, and put the tail with stinger to the enemy face to scare them.

Thanks. I will take notes. Your comments are right about what I meant about the pose of the pilot inside the mech. The pose is important. I will continue with the design. Thanks a lot :)
