Hey friends!! The guys at Unlimited Realms wanted to give y'all some special behind-the-scenes insight about the Library of Witticisms Kickstarter! Here's what they sent for me to share with you.

Hey Ginny’s Patrons!

I am Mat, one half of Unlimited Realms Ltd and we wanted to give you a little sneak peek behind Ginny and our Kickstarter collaboration! Both Dave and I grew up here in UK, meeting at a University Tabletop Gaming Society.  I had been playing Dungeons and Dragons since I was 10 so ended up starting a group at the society, introducing Dave and 5 others to the wonders of TTRPGs.

I have always been someone who has preferred being the Dungeon Master over a player and as such have made so many props, maps and other items has always been second nature, so during the last year, when my day job in Film post-production came to a halt, making gaming products for fellow DMs seemed like a natural fit!

When we produced our first product, Deck of Rumours, I instantly wanted to sponsor some of Ginny's work. Like many of you, I'm a big Critter and had come across Ginny's Jester Music Videos and was a huge fan of the fun, roleplay focused content she was making. We sponsored one of her videos and got the first taste at just how engaging, generous and enthusiastic a fanbase you all were. It just made us want to work with her again!

Thankfully, inspiration struck pretty soon. In a friend's one-shot, I decided to play a Bard and throughout I found myself referencing Ginny's insult video constantly (Normally I keep to the sweet simplicity of a good Barbarian!). Not only did it have me laughing, but the rest of my playgroup found it hilarious too. As such, I pitched the idea to Ginny, why not put these Insults, Pick-up lines (and later Jokes) onto cards for other struggling bards like myself?

The design came naturally, let's make the cards feel like pages from Ginny's very own notebook, it allowed us to design cards that helped players think on their feet and look visually interesting, plus, who doesn't love a few silly doodles!

All our card art was drawn by Dave and I, using tablets and photoshop, keeping that hand-drawn feel you would get from someone's notebook.

In total, we drew over 300 cards in about 2 months. Sending cards back and forth to Ginny to sign off on, all the time wanting each card to represent her style and her comedy.
We really hope you enjoy these cards as much as we enjoyed making them.

All three of us have been working incredibly hard to bring them to life, but honestly, it has been an absolute pleasure, not only to work with Ginny but to get to contribute, even in a very tiny way, to this incredible community she has built!

Mat

Hi all - this is Dave from Unlimited Realms Ltd!

Mat and I founded Unlimited Realms Ltd last year, and it's been a crazy journey full of unexpected twists and turns which has lead us to work with such an energetic and passionate content creator!

We wanted to focus on designing RPG-supplements that enhance the tabletop experience, and coming across Ginny's wonderful witty one-liner videos seemed like a natural fit! Following Ginny's sponsorship of Deck of Rumours, we discussed with her the opportunity to create something that fits her style of brand and humour - and has lead us to where we are today!

When making the designs of the cards, we always kept in mind that the aesthetic was meant to represent notebook-style sketches - the rough colouring is an important way to achieve this! Because the support from you guys has been really inspiring, I thought I'd give you guys a little insight into our work-stations:

Please note the essential items to ensure this work is complete: a mug of tea and baby's bottle of milk at hand... (To clarify, the milk is not for me).

Thank you guys once again for all the support - we can't wait for you to get your hands on the finished decks!

Have a fantastic week!

Dave

Dave and Mat have been so lovely to collaborate with — genuinely a pleasure to work with, so flexible and communicative and fun! I couldn't imagine doing a project of this scale with anyone else. If you haven't pledged yet, there's just one week left on the Kickstarter!

I'm curious. I don't want to ask this over on the Kickstarter itself, since this is a Patreon Perk thing, but if we are getting one more more decks free for our participation here, and are pledging just 1 or 2 decks from the Kickstarter to round out the collection, will there be a way for us to get the collector box? have you heard? do you know? can you maybe ask them about this? Thanks for anything you can share with us :)
