Video Reward Changes? (Patreon)
Content
I was reviewing my YouTube analytics the other day because I've decided (again...) to make YouTube a higher priority, and it quickly became clear that my photoshoot behind-the-scenes and photo editing timelapse videos aren't terribly popular.
Right now, I'm producing those specific types of videos every single month for rewards, and maybe when I first started doing them they were exciting, but those numbers make me wonder if by now, there's a better, more exciting type of video I can be making for rewards. Here are some of my thoughts about alternatives we could try:
- Broaden behind-the-scenes: Instead of offering a "behind the scenes vlog" as the Padawan reward, simply promise to make a new video that's early access for Patrons. This could then include early access to music videos, vlog-style videos like 50 Facts About Me or 4 Ways to Accidentally Piss Off a Cosplayer, cosplay showcase videos like this centaurette video, etc. This would hopefully create some variety in the Padawan tier rewards.
- Replace timelapses: If we're all bored of editing timelapses (tbh, I'm getting kind of bored of them!!) maybe we can replace them with a completely different type of video, like cosplay transformation (or maybe "cosplay get ready with me"? so it's more vlog-style?), education/information for cosplayers/aspiring pro cosplayers (like this video about print sales), or something else?
- Before & Afters: Instead of offering a monthly photo editing timelapse, I could share before-and-after photo comparisons instead. Those are quicker and easier to consume, make, and share. This might be a good option if you guys are still interested in photo editing, but not interested enough to watch a 3 minute timelapse of it every month!
- Eliminate timelapses: I hate just removing something from a tier without replacing it, but if these aren't hitting their mark, maybe it would be best to just ditch them! I'm putting a lot more time and energy into the tutorial for the Apprentice tier these days anyway.
I strongly suspect that if I cut down on the quantity and instead focus on quality, my behind the scenes videos and cosplay editing timelapses will get more popular! But right now, I feel like I'm drowning people with content that they aren't that into.
I know this is a little disorganized, but I'd love to hear your thoughts and suggestions!!
