Hello lovely Patrons and friends, a very happy Sunday evening to you!

First I have to say welcome to Jocelyn, Mariana, Christina, Claudia, and Mallory: our FIVE NEW PATRONS THIS MONTH, waaaaah?? Welcome welcome welcome! I’m guessing that the Arty Business article is what brought you over, in which case I’m so happy that it’s something people are connecting with. I’m continually striving to improve all of the content I share here on Patreon, because I truly don’t take your pledges lightly. Always feel welcome to offer suggestions, or to ask me or other patrons for advice/help if you need it. And feel free to say hi in the comments or on the discussions page! Everyone here is very friendly (thanks for being friendly, guys!!)

So! Today I wanted to break up the Friday Thoughts/Arty Business cycle with a Process Video. It’s been a while!

This is the process video for a very important project; The bride commissioned me to digitally illustrate herself and her three bridesmaids, to use as a gift and a decoration at her wedding. I think the video shows a lot of key steps in making such a significant portrait: making thumbnails, doing a preliminary sketch, laying out flat colors, doing detail work, and then making adjustments based on client feedback. In the future I hope to create a more in depth walk through of my portrait process, but I still think this video highlights it nicely. If you’re not here for the process, then I hope this can just be a nice soothing video for you.

Enjoy, and have a wonderful week! I’ll see you on Sunday for a Sunday Thoughts update with some pictures of my recent markets and commissions, and some ideas I have for the future of this lovely community.

Xoxo forever,

Ragon

Yes! This is awesome! Thanks so much for sharing your process, Ragon! So impressed you did this all on the iPad 0_0. How long did this take you to complete (in real time)?

Ragon

Ah sorry I missed this comment! I’d guess it took 4-5 hours total. Which means I probably undercharged, but I’m learning!
