Hello friends! It's Ragon, comin atcha from the living room studio of Ragonia Art in Seattle, Washington! A very happy Friday to you all, I hope you're doing well. Grab a cup of coffee, get comfy, and enjoy this celebratory thank you video because...

Today we're welcoming our five newest Patrons: Émilie, Emily, Davis, Kelsey, and Kayli all joined the Ragonia patron this week! Welcome, you wonderfully lovely people, and thank you so much for offering your support. I'll be mailing your rewards at the beginning of May after the first pledges process, so keep an eye out for those!

Thank you again, and please let me know if there's any way I can make this space even more awesome for you! You rock!

As I explain in the video, thanks to these five awesome new patrons, and all my rad existing patrons, we have now reached our first Patreon goal of 10+ Followers! Which means I'm getting started on the new ARTY BUSINESS series!

What this means is every other week starting next week I will share an article on an aspect of creative business that I think isn't talked about much, and that people could use some advice on. I'm thinking:

  • Social Media
  • Packaging + Shipping
  • Taxes + Licensing (from a mental perspective!)
  • Portrait Painting Process
  • Varying Income Streams
  • Branding
  • And on and on!

So I have some ideas to get started, but I'd love to hear more specifically the topics that you would like to learn about! Comment below your requests for topics, and I'll see which ones would work best for the overall series.

My vision for this series is to eventually turn it in to a zine or small book, that people anywhere in the world can download or buy. I like the idea of having articles rather than a podcast or a video because it's much faster to copy, take notes, save, and skim, and ideally to reference later. But! I'm also hoping to create a little illustration to pair with each one, to make it easier to relate to, remember, and share! Kind of like Andy J. Pizza's illustrations for each of his episodes of Creative Peptalk, but with articles instead of a podcast!

And you guys are going to have sneak peeks of these sections of the book before anyone else, and help me create it as well! Sound exciting? I think so to!

So please help me out and comment below what you'd love to learn more about.

And heck, while you're at it, why not introduce yourself in the comments as well. Let's all get to know each other a little better!

One more time, thank you so much for supporting this Patreon! I'm so happy to see our numbers slowly growing, because the more of us there are here the more I can give back. I'm delighted that you're here.

xoxo

(P.S. if you just came here for weekly updates, here was my week: emails emails emails, packaging orders, sketching portrait orders, putting my finances in to Google Sheets and paying my quarterly taxes. Fun!)

A cool idea for Arty Business would be the steps to hosting a table at an event, from start to finish!

Davis

Hi hello! My name is Davis! I am a queer nonbinary 20 year old in Portland Oregon! & I'm also vegan :-)! I just recently started getting back into visual art while I've been taking a break from playing music! I mostly use my iPad and procreate to create! I also love to make earrings from polymer clay and other things! Since most of my illustrations are digital, I'm super interested in learning how to sell prints of what I create digitally! And shipping things in general, lol! I'm so excited to be a part of this cute lil community!

Ragon

Hello Davis! I'm so happy you're here, and hey PNW buddies! Also you seem like you're in the right place, we use a lot of similar mediums for our art. :)
