Boros is actually an allusion to one of ONE'S previous works, Taiyo Man (Sun Man). In the story, the final boss was too strong for the plot to progress and it took 20 years in real time before ONE came up with an opponent strong enough to fight him. That is the manga Saitama is reading at the start of the ep.

the animation isn't on the same level as season 1 sadly but other than that I like season 2 a lot better actually

Honestly we haven't really been bothered by the animation at all! Some upcoming episodes we did notice the pacing was a different though

yeah some episodes are paced in a weird way but overall I really prefer that we follow one threat throughout the season instead of like a new one every couple of episodes
