I'm thinking of maybe scrapping the assets I have for Pro Ass Fishing and re-trying it in 3D. Progress has been completely halted for some time, because the 2D animation was a tremendous pain in the ass and took forever. And generally the last thing I wanted to do after I finished drawing all day was MORE drawing.

What do you all think? I'd still really like to make this game. I think something in a crisp low-poly style might look cute. Right now I'm just fucking around trying to make a 3D Izzy, and this is what I've got after only a couple hours of dicking around.

I think whatever method you find to make the work manageable moving forward is the one you should pick. Starting over always sucks but if you're dreading doing 2D animation to the point that you're no longer making progress than the obvious better choice is switching to 3D animation. It would be better for you, which is better for all of us.

Sounds cool! Any chance for a full 2D vs 3d mockup test render?

3d models make make it easier to make irl versions of the characters too. Anyone with a decent 3d printer would be able to knock them out

Not a bad idea. If I like this Izzy, I'll probably go into making The Fisherman. I'll try to animate his idle animation in blender, and we can compare the two.

Not for nothing, but I have a 3D printer. I'd be happy to print one out in resin (not FDM with the ugly lines) for free.
