Episode 1 Part 1 of one of the greatest shows we’ve seen so far. The Celtics and Lakers played three riveting NBA Finals in a four-year span during the mid-1980s that fuelled the popularity of the league and set the stage for the tremendous growth and heightened profile the NBA has enjoyed since. This episode take a dive back to the beginning of the rivalry, during the 60s.

You guys have done it again. 🌟😊 An absolutely great intro into cultural (racial) landscape of the country when Magic and Bird entered the NBA. Its been noted that Magic as a black man, had to have the lovable, smiling nonthreatening personality in order to be embraced by the media and the NBA public of the 70's and 80's. I'm nearly the same age as Magic and Bird and let me tell you, America was a different place back then. The media didn't hide its bias and neither did the general public. Barry Bond's dad played in this era and experienced the extreme bias that was common for black athletes in America. They were portrayed as criminals, thugs, drug users and even worse. The documentary about the Miami Hurricanes even illudes to this. The racial history of this country is not pretty. I commend you guys for your honest critique of the many controversial issues raised in this film. You guys do a great job staying nonpolitical while expressing very clear moral and ethical opinions.
