I will say this about Friday night lights… Weather on TV or radio or any form of entertainment I typically like to avoid things that talk about race and gender and politics, etc. I’ve always loved the sensitivity that Friday night lights takes with all sorts of relatively controversial And edgy topics. You’ll see many different ones about race about sex about all sorts of other things pop up throughout the show, and I applied the writers, the many different sets of writers, that they had for always remaining extremely sensitive about it and writing very beautiful, scripts and storylines about it.
