I decided to change the designs of most of the anthro slugcats, feeling that I need to make them look more interesting to me and be really telling with their character- as well as to create matches and contrasts when it came to the relationships of some of these characters.

These designs might change in the future but for now, I'm satisfied with where they are.

I've been bantering with a few of my patrons regarding "pansear transgendering their scugs". I think I quite literally am.

First off, let's talk about the scugs that barely have any change in their design:

1. Gourmand

Gourmand's design is already perfect. I don't need to add fluff or anything. They're the only slugcat with a very consistent design and I'm very proud of it. Even my fans could agree! Their design is already distinct from the rest of the slugcats and over the versions, you can see there's barely a change! It's mostly only just the legs.

2. Rivulet

Rivulet's body type kept changing but overall they remain relatively the same over the versions. It's the legs and more emphasis on their chubbiness. I won't introduce any fluff to Rivulet in order to match with their slippery and water-based nature.

3. Spearmaster

Spearmaster just gets taller, thinner, sharper- in the effort of preventing them from looking too similar to Artificer and I think it worked well. It's a bit common for anthro Spearmaster designs to incorporate their exaggerated skinniness, but I believe that there's a pretty good reason why its a popular design choice.

4. Saint

As my patrons described- I really just yassified Saint through and through. I thought the hourglass body type fit them very well, but the switch from digitigrades to normal legs is more apparent haha. You'll see alternative designs of them in their echo and seasonal forms soon!

5. Survivor

I personally think out of all the slugcat designs, Survivor's didn't stand out the most to me- the really defining feature about them is their beanie. I decided to add a bit of fluff and some visible scars that were gained from training and some close calls. Makes them feel less than average.

6. Hunter

Introducing Hunter's mane was probably one of the best decisions I ever made- it made Hunter distinct from the rest of the group and made them very fun to draw. Most of the previous design stayed, but I made their hair longer to keep up the wild nature.

7. Nightcat

Nightcat remained relatively the same but their changes are very subtle. Their ears became longer and wider, their lashes became more simplified, their snout decreased in size and their tail shape also changed. I wanted to give them more of a ghastly bunny look.

8. Artificer

Artificer was originally bald, but as more anthro arti designs and general arti designs came from other artists, I became fond of arti with spiky fur, so I started incorporating it until it appears as if flames! I was on the fence of whether or not to add pupils, but in the end I decided to add them, to bring a little bit more humanity in Arti's face maybe.

9. Monk

Monk is another slugcat design that keeps changing often. Probably undergoing puberty. This time, this fluff is within lore reasons. If you know their association with Saint, they are becoming like a splitting image of them- horrifying for Saint to witness- maybe Monk always had this... Or maybe...

10. Enot

My primary issue with Enot's previous designs was that they felt too tame and a little too boring. I've been seeing other enot designs and realized I haven't been really going out on their chaotic potential, which is why their newest redesign is so striking! They can shapeshift and change colors- this is just their default state. Expect some crazy outfit designs later down the line.
