How important it is to actually recognize a particular song within our MoCaps? That was a pretty tough discussion in our studio. We came to the conclusion that sometimes its pretty important. On the other hand many of our used MoCap songs don´t need to be recognized at all.

We are also aware of the fact, that even if we claim our MoCaps as an act of art we are working pretty close to the border of legality. So basically from now on this are our two rules for music we are going to use in the future:

1.) Music in our MoCaps are from now on strictly NO COPYRIGHT music ( In our researches we found tons over tons of great songs without "any" copyright )

2.) Well known music has to be allowed to be shared (like pretty old music / heavy remixed music under specific circumstances)

We have been experimenting with the VaM integrated web panel wich would allow playing the music via a platform like y o u t u b e but until now without any satisfying result ( because of time lags / triggering and desynchronisations ).

If we find a solution playing the needed music via an external source there will no longer be any limitation in the music choice. Btw thats why the "make a songwish" survey didn´t take place the past months.

If you have any ideas, critics we are always glad to hear your opinion! Thank you so much for your ongoing support and like always

Stay tuned

You could post the video silent, or with generic music, and put in the readme file a link to Amazon music where they can buy the mp3 that the song would sync up to

tdog

might cost people an extra dollar, but would be a solution

Definitely not worth a potential lawsuit for copyright infringement, do what's best for you.

This is clearly an option but this "extra dollar" would sum up to 3 or 4 or 5 Dollars for every MoCap we produce. People wich already spend money in order to support our work wouldn´t be happy about spending more money just in order to finally enjoy our MoCaps properly. So thats in our opinion something where we are sure we would loose many if not even all supporters and we are not going to do. But the core idea is good! Thank you ;) Chrizzy

Nope! With every month we grow a little bit more and we have more and more content. Its time to go step on the copyright breaks before crossing any borders we dont want to cross. Chrizzy

Well, the Amazon link would just be a 'suggestion' to get it from there. Where people ACTUALLY get the mp3 wouldn't be your problem ;)

I agree with that. At least that would be an alternative solution and it would be legal. I find it quite enjoyable to hear a well known song instead of just random generic license free music (I know some songs are fine but it's a huge difference)

KamiGato

Yes. Its an alternetive but still the people need to do something more than just download the scene and enjoy. And we are not quit sure if this concept might work out.

Yeah you're right, definitely comes at the cost of ease-of-use. I personally would prefer to have copyrighted music (cause it tends to be better), but I can understand how ease-of-use is a priority over that
