Nearly all the top KDA fighters have faced the Matriarch at some point- some few have been wise enough to avoid her entirely. Strength notwithstanding, the ability to fly is something that is almost immediately insurmountable. You'd have a better chance trying to wrestle a Naga underwater.

Some of the fighters, however, see this as an opportunity. Someone who could finally defeat that damn Harpy would earn an incredible amount of prestige. They would be legends.

With the KWA title belt recently in her grasp, Zaerine felt unstoppable. She's been training. She's been growing. She beat TAL'NAYA- she can take down the bird this time. She was sure of it.

It's very rare that the new champion's primary goal is to grapple. The blood elf wants to be free, she wants to be able to bounce around the ring and land flying kicks and blinding elbows. Zaerine is a high flyer herself, after all. But, the Matriarch has literal wings. Zae feels like she flies around the ring, Matriarch literally does. Not a good plan.

No, this time, Zaerine was going to do something she detested. She was gonna wrestle.

The Matriarch, surprisingly, didn't even really resist her attempts to go to the ground. As a matter of fact, she strangely seemed to relish it. The harpy is still strong, and has an advantage on the canvas nearly as strong as the one she has in the air.
