Firstly, just a quick reminder that from the 23rd of June 2023, there'll be an update of a new Exiern page every day until the 30th of June for a total of eight.

So, Exiern's going to turn 18 this year (exactly when has been lost to history, unfortunately) and I believe it's supporting at least two different families in two different countries for a total of at least 9 people if I've added that up correctly.

Unfortunately, long story short (I'll save the details for a later time), income has fallen quite short of the costs.

For a while now, I've been making up the difference in costs. The smart thing would have been to wrap it up or at least severely strip back what we're doing to just updating the main story with just one artist at the lowest feasible price (and of course giving patrons the full opportunity to decide what they'd want to do going ahead).

There's no danger of that happening anytime soon (as long as I can afford things - especially keeping in mind the people being supported due to the existence of this series of related webcomics) but I would at least like the deficit to be less. Once again, this isn't a direct or indirect way to get more money out of existing patrons (times are tough and we're very grateful for every bit of support) but I guess to start with, does anyone have any ideas?

I've tried a few different things over years which haven't really worked out so far, I'm thinking something probably unrelated to Exiern that could raise an income to offset the losses but I'm open to considering any (legal) suggestions. Any thoughts, everyone?

(This is the primary issue I'll be looking at in terms of everything Exiern-related and will have the occasional update on. Tomorrow, I'm hoping to talk about the Patreon content and the various tiers specifically, so see you all then!)

I don't want to start with anything that's going to cost money up front at the moment because I'm rather pessimistic about that working for us. I know there's some places which keep it virtual until someone buys an item and then they make it. However I doubt it'd generate much. On that note, I do believe Scott set one of those up already ... (Not a bad idea but I don't want to start with one of these just yet, time available is another factor.)

Pondering, but ponderously. My brain is currently fried, ironically from spending EOFY money, but I'll try to add some suggestions later.
