Penny's Journals: Hiveling (Patreon)

So this was an interesting one that I kinda found difficult, to be honest. I want to portray the xenotypes in Rimworld with as much empathy and humanity as possible. Hivelings are in an interesting intersection of having been a people who escaped violence from the Empire, but in turn have enacted violence upon others with their parasitic stingers. I didn't like the idea of making them this purely violent group, though, especially since there is literally in-game examples of Hiveling colonists coexisting with a diverse colony. So to me, it felt like an opportunity to show how how important choice in action can be. I hope it came across! All in all, gave me a lot to reflect upon!
