You know, I don't think we would have wrapped op this series quite so soon if the game didn't slow down so badly which is a darn shame.

At the beginning of this fortress I realized there are different parameters for fortresses that can be portrayed in my videos. Forts that focus on the dwarves' individual stories, forts that focus on the story of the fort's goals and forts that focus on mechanics and challenges. I guess Northbridge leaned more heavily on the mechanic/fortress goal side than on the dwarves individual stories. I thought that woul dbe a fun direction to go in so that we could see a bunch of the new pixel graphics and I think it worked out well!

That being said, the game reaaaally slowed down towards the end and I don't think it was totally b/c of the underground invaders popping up (a popular complaint about the steam release). The game seemed to run about as slow as i'd expect from a 200+ dwarf fortress...but when you have a fort whose focus is based around doing lots and lots of fiddly little constructions, it makes the whole thing really drag.

I am thinking of cutting down the population for future forts and i'm holding onto the hope that Putnam is able to sort out DF's spaghetti code and get the thing running a bit more smoothly!

That being said, before we start on a new fort in Athira Etha I think it'd be fun to do a little one-off. hrmmmmm

I'm saving the last episode for this evening (your content is my go to before bed video) but think a smaller fortress fits into your style regardless. Having far fewer dwarfs who you can really focus and develop on characters seems right up your ally.

This fort was so cool! Inspired me to try to make prettier forts. I would love to see you do a fort/one off in a good biome with blue grass and feather trees. I don't think I've ever seen you illustrate that biome before and I bet it would look awesome!!

Oh... So that was not a gem window with dwarven engravings but a window with a dwarf standing behind it. Such a cool visual effect, well done!
