Fully expecting not everyone will vibe with my take on this, but here goes: This arc is really frustrating in that it is dealing with extremely problematic societal issues by basically not addressing them. The two issues here that I feel aren't properly grappled with in any kind of a satisfying way are the de facto slavery of prostitutes, and gender presentation. I think we have to wait for more of the arc to resolve before I fully give my thoughts, so I'll just say a bit about how gender presentation is treated in this episode. In Japan the culture around gender presentation is honestly pretty toxic. The idea of a "trap" for example, often presented as a man who dresses up as a woman in order to seduce other men, is toxic AF. It is only more recently that any kind of actual transgender representation is bleeding into popular anime (notable examples like Tiger in MHA etc, or maybe Marulk in Made in Abyss), usually instead trans characters don't exist and instead sex crazed men pretending to be women as a fetish are in their place. Now I'm really glad that's not what Kimetsu no Yaiba is doing... Instead what they're doing is using the MCs presenting as female as mostly a set up for jokes. There is not any reconning with how they each feel about presenting as female, or how it aligns with their gender identity, it is just "Look how funny! They're dressed as women! AMAB people dressed as women! Isn't that funny? Isn't that against the norms and therefore funny?". I don't think Gotouge had any malicious intent in the way they set this up, certainly not, it is actually much better than how a lot of other series handle the issue, but the fact that it doesn't even address the reality or existence of transness feels like erasure in a society where actual trans characters are so rarely allowed to just exist as fully fleshed out people.

Lijnaito2021 !

Still gonna bank on my statement this is the best arc in the entire series just wait!
