That desperation that is in BSG is what makes the show so good. Sad that no good new space scifi like this has been made. Expanse was maybe the last good one done. I wish we will get at some point again new story, I don't need repeat of Star Wars, Star Trek rather get totally new story. PS. Was funny that you were so adamant that he wasn't Cylon, so the show managed to trick you.

Really glad to see you tackling this series Sonny. BSG truly is right up there with The Expanse as one of the best sci-fi television series of all time, and even though it was produced 20 years ago the special effects, sets, props, costuming, etc. are all first class. And more importantly, as I’m sure others have mentioned and you’re already beginning to see, the cast is excellent and the writers do a great job of giving them interesting and complex characters to inhabit. In fact BSG has some of the most compelling character arcs I’ve ever seen, with some being inspiring and heartwarming while others are tragic and even brutal. Moreover it should come as no surprise that the show tackles difficult and morally ambiguous themes given that it debuted shortly after the 9/11 attacks and its run coincided with the height of the “war on terror”. One non-spoiler word of advice: don’t even try to resist the temptation to speculate on what’s going to happen next, who’s actually a Cylon and who isn’t, etc. Almost everyone who watches the show for the first time does that. BSG’s plotting is so creative that guessing at what plot twists are coming is almost irresistible! Just be prepared for your guesses to be wrong much of the time since the writers are experts at subverting expectations.
