The legend is that while they were working on this episode Gotouge (the mangaka) was at ufotable studio constantly checking in and consulting on their vision of this moment, and that when the studio showed them the finished sequence they went back to their hotel and cried. Also not particularly important to this episode but I am very glad we are seeing more and more non cis-male identified mangaka succeeding in the shounen genre. Gotouge keeps their gender quite ambiguous, most likely taking great care because of the conservative cultural norms in Japan. They insist on gender neutral pronouns as much as possible.

This episode never disappoints on a rewatch, and neither did your reactions. It was just such a beautiful and impactful sequence, the kind where just hearing the music for it brings me back to the moment that I first watched the episode.
