This episode was really tragic. The only GoT/HOTD episode to ever make me cry. If only everyone could set aside their differences. 12/10 episode for me.

The time jumps give us the massive amount of pressure that comes with dynastic succession. It’s easy to play up some drama over a marriage or a death begetting a new heir over a single episode, meant to set the stage for a big cinematic blood and guts adventure, but this telling actually makes the audience understand that these decisions are incredibly weighty and emotionally painful decisions between immediate family members who have deep emotions, both positive and negative, towards each other. The fact that an old man walking to his throne in a final act had faaaar more emotional impact than all the soulless spectacle of later GoT speaks volumes about the superiority of great writing and acting above any high production show piece. I’d also have to agree the casting of Aegon and Aemond is a little iffy, but I’m guessing Aegons going to get the cut whereas Aemond will be around a bit longer. Hopefully in contest with his Uncle Daemon, they seem to be cut from a similar cloth. Oh and one little p.s.- that Lannister guy has been on the small council since episode 1, he’s twins with the more foppish and annoying one

I need a paternity check on Aemond as well against Daemon's DNA. hahahhaa That grin of Daemon looking at Aemond at the end of dinner is all sorts of "game recognizes game", troll recognizes troll.

Wouldn't say it was the only one that brought me to tears, but this one was absolutely very powerful
