Fun fact: the Duffer brothers did an interview and they mentioned how they wanted to ask Robert Englund to play a character on STs but they were too nervous to ask… turns out they didn’t have to at all because Robert decided to film his own audition tape in his bath tub and sent the audition in for the DBs. & that’s how he got the role for Victor Creel.

This episode is my absolute favorite of all of stranger things. Partly why Max is my favorite character alongside Dustin.

Kat I’m pretty sure you’d have a hard time arguing with Jonathan and Argyle that a lower THC % is a good thing! I’d have to politely disagree with your disapproval of the amount of tropes used, because I think the whole point of Stranger Things is that it’s both a satire of and a celebration of tropes in equal measure. I think the producers are doing an amazing job of balancing that ooey gooey indulgent nostalgia with a genuinely compelling storyline. So different from the shallow soulless reboots that have haunted Hollywood in recent years. Oh! And speaking of tropes, that image of the insane asylum as an absurd Victorian nightmare mansion has its root right here in my neck of the woods in North Shore Massachusetts! I used to play various ballgames on fields in the shadow of the old Tewksbury Sanitorium, which inspired the local horror writer H.P. Lovecraft, of Cthulu (and horrific racism) fame, of an asylum in the fictional town of Arkham, from which a comic book author by the name of Bob Kane took inspiration for his tale of a traumatized rich kid beating up poor and mentally ill people or whatever… Anyway thanks as always for listening to my TED talk! Glad I waited to enjoy the series with you guys

they did such a good job showing through Max dealing with some much pain and at a low point and realizing that you have so much to live for and to keep fighting. The actress did such an amazing job!
