First off, Kat looking at Sonny lovingly during the opening makes me want to believe in love again. Second, I giggled at Kat's outraged "Nooo" when the episode ended because I remembered my own frustration knowing I had to wait one week to know what happened to Levi (one week... heh :') )

I actually agree with Zeke's way of thinking. If your standard of living is high enough for your child to have a good life, and you know that you have what it takes to be a good parent, go for it and have children. But if your standard of living is miserable and you're gonna be a bad parent, and your child will get a miserable existence, you shouldn't be allowed to have children. You're basically torturing your future child at this point. Absolutely unacceptable. Like killing for survival only, procreation is one of the most fundamental things to life. That doesn't mean it should be allowed or endorsed in all scenarios.

I agree with your guys' discussion at the end- it's very conflicting. I always like to bring the parallels back to Marley= Nazi Germany and Eldians= Jewish people during World War 2. Sterilizing the Jewish people (a lot of them were) is so fucked man- because at the end it is straight genocide. Because other people don't like a certain race, is it right to phase them out? Dunno, I just can't get on board with Eren/Zeke, but I can understand where they are coming from

Hey : ), your standard for life is one that is as free from suffering as possible. However, it could be argued that suffering is an essential product and catalyst for a life in many ways. In a world where nihilism can seem crushing and infuriating, know that it can also be a catalyst for hope, because of the knowledge that life is intrinsically defiant. I'm not claiming to know what can constitute a life worth living, but I just wanted to provide a different perspective my friend.

Same, I understand where Ksaver and Zeke are coming from but at the end of the day the euthanization plan is genocide. Sterilizing an entire race is messed up even if you think you're doing it to "save the world", it's just a decision too big for one single person to make.

A lot of people are saying that all eldians are subjects of ymir but that isn't exactly true. Most are but in season 3 it was stated that there are noble bloodlines that aren't effected by the founder and I would definitely consider these people apart of eldia. The Ackermans also aren't subjects of ymir while still being eldian. They're a family from a different ethnic background than subjects of ymir that was altered by titan science to give them abilities to protect the king like eren said in his talk with armin and mikasa. This is why Uri couldn't use the founder to read Kenny's mind in S3 because they're not actually connected to the paths via the founder, they're connected to the paths by their subject of ymir host(Erwin for Levi, Eren for Mikasa).

Jessie what the f are you talking about I'm pretty sure Ackermanns are Subjects of Ymir, Eren said in that table scene in the manga that they are byproduct of Eldia's experminets on Subjects of Ymir, and also that they get experience from all past Ackermanns through the paths, so they must be connected to them like all the other Subjects of Ymir. and that part about being connected by their host also doesnt hold up but cant say why cuz spoilers

Really enjoyed your discussion in this one!! I'm not a Zeke fan at all, but I have so much sympathy for him as a kid. I wouldn't say Grisha and Dina didn't have love for him but they were terrible parents for sure, he deserved a better childhood (but in this show not a single character gets that lol). That being said, I'm still against him and his "euthanasia plan", that's just a slow way to commit genocide, and while I understand his motivations, to me his way of thinking is really patronizing and messed up, like him saying "I didn't steal, I saved lives" is... a bit concerning lol. Whether life is worth living or not is something that each person has the right to decide, it's not up to him to make that choice for everyone else, even if it's for "the greater good". I just find it disturbing how disposable other people's lives seem to him, can't forget how much he enjoyed killing the Survey Corps and how he turns Eldians into titans to use them as weapons. Not cool Zeke 😔👎 oh and he blew up my boy Levi in this one, double 😔👎 for him. Great character though!!! grateful to have this kind of antagonist in the story, he really gets you thinking.

It was never stated that the ackermans themselves were subjects of ymir though. I personally don't think they are for reasons I already said and others related to the end of the manga I obviously won't talk about because spoilers but I could be wrong. Doesn't really matter. My overall point was that some eldians are more than likely not subjects because they show no connection to the paths ie, the oligarchy pre uprising

Given the ackermans were altered through titan science and likely through the founding titan's ability to alter biology, it seems to be they would have to be subjects of ymir or else they couldn't be altered. I'm not 100% sure about that tho. But you are indeed correct, not all eldians are subjects of ymir and not all subjects of ymir could be labelled as eldians. I would think the noble bloodlines are just members of other races that were absorbed into eldia without mixing as well as eldians that don't have subject of ymir blood, which explains their immunity to the founding titan.

I mean I can't say too much but it was confirmed in part II that Ackermans ARE subjects of Ymir, otherwise Mikasa wouldn't have been in one particular scene.

It depends on the level of suffering involved. A certain degree of pain is needed for survival and motivation. However extreme levels of suffering are only pointless and makes the lives of those involved a living hell not worth living. Having children in such conditions should be illegal just how it is illegal to torture people or make them suffer on a high, pointless and immoral level. Think of starving children in Africa for example, surrounded by hundreds of flies and mosquitoes, only being skin and bones, with no hope nor future, destined to die before the age of 10. Having children in such and similar conditions should simply be illegal. End of the story. It's pure torture being born in such conditions, and the children are not born out of love, but for them to work. Similar to Eldians in Marley. Endless, pointless suffering. This is why Zeke is right.

underrated aspect of zeke's plan: they can rid the world of titans without any direct bloodshed or war - no lives would be lost as a direct result of this solution.

as a wise man once said, find someone who looks at you like Kat looked at Sonny during the opening theme song in the full length Patreon feed reaction to Attack on Titan season 4 episode 15: Sole Salvation. That shit was cute as hell Also: I keep wondering that same thing about making Eldians incapable of transforming into Titans altogether instead of sterilizing them and doing it that way. Like a lot lol The discussion about that got me thinking; they said the Founder Ymir was was the very first Titan to ever exist... and she split into 9 Titans after her death.... if the Paths all lead from "the Coordinate" TO the other 8 Titans, and vice versa the way I understand them to... I wonder if maybe the only way to truly eradicate the ability altogether is for all 9 Titans to return to their original state as a single entity and just... cancel Eldia's subscription to You Could Be a Titan Too magazine lol idk
