I didn't like Floch at all in the beginning because of what he said to Armin. He was an absolute scaredy cat in season 3, but my view of him changed when I noticed how far he was willing to go save the eldians, his people. The story is portraying him as a villian but I don't see it that way. I'm on Eren and Floch's side all the way. I do agree that what they are doing is EXTREME but what choice do they have. If Armin can't come up with a plan for peace, then no one can. There are no other options, logically speaking. That's just how I see it.

Flochs characters development is what makes people like him. He survived literal hell so it's not surprising that he turned out like this

Oh man... I wanted to comment on the Floch thing a couple of times, but I forgot I was spoiling future episodes, so I'll leave my Floch comment for a better moment and now I'll just say I'm afraid of people who like him. Him, the person, not the character, because he is a phenomenal evil character.

I liked Floch exactly bc of what he said to Armin haha he was just speaking his mind and he didn't say anything that wasn't true in all honesty (and this comes from someone who adores Armin so don't get me wrong). And I liked that he was a 'scaredy cat' bc it's realistic that he would be, I would have literally passed out during RTS lmao my soul would have left my body ngl. I also don't see him as a villan but that doesn't mean I'm on his side. There will always be choices, even if the choice might be to let yourself get killed, so I don't agree with you on that. Gotta say I don't agree with the previous commenter either though about calling Floch a nazi. I don't think he belives he's a superior race or anything like that, it's more of a kill or be killed of a situation in his head and he's simply choosing the former. He's traumatized and paranoid, and being put in this position, it's not suprising that he thinks the way he does. Again, I'm not trying to argue that it's the right choice, but I can see why he would personally think it is. In ideology, the character I'm closest to is Armin even though I believe he's sadly too idealistic and not proactive enough.

I don't remember the entire world trying to destroy Germany. The entire world is coming for everyone in the walls. Paradis is backed into a corner. I don't like the thought of genocide, I do agree that it is wrong, and I know Floch is an extremist. However, desperate times calls for desperate measures. it's either all of Paradis dies or everyone who wants them dead dies. They didn't have anymore time to reason with them, as Eren stated. If it came to the people I love, I could care less about what's right and what's wrong or how I feel about the situation. I care about a solution that doesn't involve my people dying. I think that's the "right" thing to do.

Malak

I think he just reasonable well-written, you don't have to agree with him to understand his views and how he has come to his view point. I think that's essentially what you're saying anyway unless I'm mistaken

Floch has the best character development in the show after Eren, you will see in future episodes how he is willing to do anything to protect his country from the enemy

Everyone is talking about Floch. But I just want to be annoying and rectify one thing (you likely already know this but): Sonny, Japanese doesn't have L. Japanese pronounce L as R and Chinese the other way around. So some people believe it is Blouse because they think they're mispronouncing. Back when season 1 aired, some subtitles referred to Levi as "Rivaille" 😅

Meg B

Anyway, like I said I just had this itch to be annoying. Love you guys and your insightful discussions. I hope you three are doing well! ♥️

Doesn't matter how many times I watch that scene, I bawl my eyes out every time.

Personally, I hate Floch. I don't even find him compelling as a villain. He even sucked back in Season 3. Gabi's character arc is amazingly done though, excited for you guys to see it.

Also, Sasha's parents are such genuinely good people. It's so refreshing to see.

This is definitely one of my favorite episodes of AOT <3 I was as moved as you guys were with the scene of Nicolo, Gabi and Sasha's family, it had me in tears 🥲 I hate seeing Falco and Gabi in that situation because I adore them, but I also understand where Nicolo is coming from, it must be terrible to lose the person you're in love with, a person who also saved you from something as terrible as war :( The overall situation is so messed up and conflicting at this point, I understand everyone's motivations and reasoning, even if I don't agree with the actions they lead to, so when I was watching I thought to myself: OK, If I *had to* pick a side *right now*, I'd choose Levi's because he's the only character I trust at this point lol

btw you guys are so close to the second part of this season!!! times has gone by so quickly 🏃‍♂️

Goob

I think it’s reasonable to feel empathy towards his trauma. But he is undeniably evil.

LMAO I love Floch seriously hahahaha

Floch is one of the most controversial characters in the series. He's easy to hate, but then when you really look into what he stands for and the trauma that shaped him, you see the genius of his character. Also, you can't deny the man is competent. He's only 19 and he's taking down military institutions.

That's a very disturbing ethnocentric genocidal mentality. Germany portrayed the world as trying to destroy Germany and German culture, and Floch's whole concept of reclaiming conquered land is a copy of Lebensraum. There were opportunities for peace, but Eren was extremely impatient/immature about it. Also, if we follow your logic, then if the Jews or other ethnic groups were trying to destroy Germany, then you would effectively be justifying the Holocaust as a defense mechanism. You'd be basing your entire morality system on whether something is true as opposed to it being right and wrong. Genocide is never the answer.

Gu

Great reaction and This really great episode

LivingDynamo

Not really him taking them down, Yelena and Zeke are doing the heavy lifting

Thamor

Well Floch did have important part as he is the link to rile up the scouts to be Yeagerists, neither Yelena or Zeke could convince the Island Eldians to betray. So Floch is a big part for the whole situation.
