I'm a bit late to the party as I just discovered you both, but I was very impressed with how spot on your post episode analysis was. You both completely dissected and understood scenes that many people don't quite understand or completely miss the first time around. On the train, you both immediately recognized Reiner was warning Falco to not think like that publicly and also ensured he could mechanically spit out propaganda to ensure his safety (which is ironic, as you also both saw how Reiner tried to do this at the dinner scene with his family, describing his friends on Paradis as 'devils' yet only coming up with examples of normal human behavior), yet he clearly agreed with Falco's sentiments. The dinner scene is another example as I've already mentioned, and even the ending scene where you both sensed there was something more to it from Zeke and Reiners' awareness of being monitored and Reiner rigidly saying expected company lines. I really appreciate both of your abilities to empathize with the characters as it allows you deeply understand them and their circumstances, it really is rewarding to watch. Can't wait to binge the rest of your season 4 reactions!

It's hard to read but Rainer was describing everyone as devils in a sarcastic way lol. He knows they're all just people at this point

i know its not on purpose but you just posted this episode when we got pieck introduced as a human and then on youtube the episode when we saw pieck as titan LOL i love her <3 also as always your reviews and theories are cool

The scene where reiner was describing his time at the island was very well done, he begins by telling everyone there were terrible people on the island, but then proceeds to describe them in the most human way. Its almost like he was trying to convince himself that they were devils. thats also why his mom shuts the doors of the house to be safe and not take chances in case they were being heard

A small detail I like, when Gabi is proudly telling her family of her feats in the war there's a brief moment where she pauses as she realizes she could've died. It's very minor, and I only picked up on it on rewatch, but it's such a very human moment and shows the attention to detail the creators put into this.

I honestly think the sound effect and the tension it creates during that scene are probably why some ppl misunderstand Reiner's state of mind/answers to his uncle's question

I thought she paused because she was about to say Falco tried to save her, but she didn't want to give him credit, so she moved straight on to Galliard saving them. Now I'm not so sure.

I also thought that because she stops specifically at that point in the story, but you're right, that's the point she almost died as well.
