We once again get to dive into the backstory of some of these characters, and hear about the events that led to where they are now. The plot is seriously thickening, and that's saying something - since this series already has a pretty "thick" plot! Lol

Since this episode fully revealed it, when Sannes confesses in episode 2 of season 3, he talks about 3 murders done by the MP's. A Teacher (Erwins father), a "whore" (Historias mother) and a couple that tried to fly over the walls (Armins parents).

Sannes is far from a sympathetic character, having done such horrible things. Yet he did them all (from his perspective) for a noble cause, for peace within the walls. Many will disagree with his perspective, but as he talks to Hange tearfully at the end you do see his humanity. I think he did not enjoy his job, rather he thought it was something that had to be done.

Yeah I don’t remember 100% but the anime never truly confirms that those are Armin’s parents (or revisits it) but Isayama or someone else did outside in other interviews, the guidebook companion, magazines or something.

Fun fact to watch out for. Ever since Sasha heard the footsteps in episode 1 of season 2 and initially nobody believed her, every time she says she hears something, Connie ALWAYS puts his hands behind his ears. It's a neat detail.
