I'm sad that due to Nickelodeon and culture at large they could do more with Korasami, but glad they were able to do something.

I loved this show so much and wished they could have gone further with the Korasami relationship on screen, but i am glad that the creators at least confirmed it and i think it is also confirmed in the books? Something to add, if you want to fill the void left by avatar, i can highly recommend The Dragon Prince on Netflix. Co written by the head writer of ATLA and the Voiceactor of Sokka voices on of the maincast. It also has a lot of parallels to avatar. Also if you were bothered with Nickolodeon leaving the Korasami thing open, you will be happy with The Dragon Prince being very different in that regard :)
