This chapter did sooo much in the ways of explaining what's going on with Zaheer and the others. Really interesting stuff! Although, now our heroes are in a bit of a pinch...

Man one of my favorite Avatarverse episodes. Zaheer and Korra's conversation is awesome, and Zaheer's whisper to the red lotus in the real world is insanely sneaky and cool. I like to think of Iroh's quote from ATLA regarding this ep: "It is important to draw wisdom from many different places. If you take it from only one place, it becomes rigid and stale." So Zaheer represents anarchy. Idk if you remember me asking about political ideologies back in the beginning of the season, but I was curious if you had any guesses lol.

I do appreciate that Zaheer is inspired by an Airbender. Airbending philosophy at its core is about detachment and freedom, and taken to an extreme, you can see how this line of thinking can be taken to the tearing down of the idea of nations and governments. Some Buddhist teachings have ideas along similar lines.

Also, I belive this helps explains why Zaheer is so proficient at airbending. His explanation was that the Red Lotus would've been her elemental teachers. Since Tenzin was the only Airbender in the world, Zaheer would've had to do the next best thing and learn about the philosophies and techniques in order to teach her.
