The first season just kept getting better and better, and this last episode is probably our favourite of the series so far! So much emotion, and even some tearbending happening on our end 😅 They could've easily just ended the whole thing here, but we are SO excited to continue on, and see what sorts of adventures they come up with.

Hell yeah! I'm not going to talk about the second season much, and will wait for you to form your own opinion first. Though, i want to ask - have patience. =) There is still quite a lot of fun and awesome stuff ahead. If you'll notice the change in animation, it is because basically half of the second season was animated by studio Pierrot. Thankfully, studio Mir did the most important episodes of the season (and came back for the rest of the show).

As for Korra who discovered airbending, there is a theory that it is the air chakra that is responsible for love. Mako's life / bending was under threat, and since Mako was her love, it allowed Korra to open the air chakra, and accordingly airbendeng

Anonymous

Huh, it is a neat theory. I absolutely forgot that the chakra that deals with love was the air chakra.

As a water and bloodbender, Noatak could sense Korra underneath the table, and he could also sense what Tarrlok was about to do, but did not stop him. What a sad ending for 2 brothers who were just tools of revenge in their father's eyes.

Yes, I agree with Kat about Korra's sheltering making her less worldly. This will play out a lot in the next season for sure in how she is able to navigate complex sociopolitical dynamics as the Avatar.

Great reaction! :D Im pretty sure Ive heard the creators confirmed that Amon crushed his right hand man from inside..so hes dead

Not-so-fun fact: When Korra was at the cliffside and the teardrop fell into the ocean, it's meant to be symbolic of her wanting to end her own life.

Anonymous

Is it a fact? I heard this interpretation a lot, and not arguing that this is not the case, but was it ever mentioned by creators?

Elder

they actually only planned to make one season that's why it ended like that.

Poor Kat, this episode really got her good! This series is going to be a wild ride of emotions for her, lol.

I always figured Korra was able to unlock airbending because she 'freed herself' from the world and her desires. Her bending was taken away. That was all she had and all she wanted. She wanted to be the Avatar. Without bending she wasn't an Avatar. So Korra still trying to save Mako even though SHE thinks she is nothing anymore was her reaching true freedom like a proper air nomad. Doing what she thinks is right even though she doesn't think anything of herself.

Austin D

other Avatars you say????

Austin D

Nick kind of screwed them over regarding budget and things so this is where you start to see some of that stuff. Luckily the show's best is still yet to come :D

Austin D

I know that's why these two are just the best. They are already picking up on Korra's more subtle characteristics. Most reaction channels don't see how much good stuff they put into her character.

Alex

There's a really good theory out there that basically states that throughout her adventures this season she unknowingly unlocked all her chakras so that was how she mastered the avatar state. I like to believe in the last scene with her standing over the edge was when she "gave up" her worldly attachments ie being able to bend/being the avatar thus unlocking her final chakra. Its not really confirmed but that's my personal headcannon

PolyRon

Love how Avatar isn't afraid to tell deeper stories than the average cartoon show.

I was not a fan of legend of korra but re-watching it with you guys and your take on it is making me appreciate it. I am really enjoying it now and looking forward to the next seasons!

"Did Jet just.....die?" hahaha. It really was unclear indeed.

Loved the reaction! Many say that is was suggested at the end of the episode that Korra was thinking about suicide when she thought there was no way of recovering her bending. Her standing so close to the edge of the cliff that her tear could fall directly into the ocean kind of symbolises this. This makes the moment even more sad and important.
