Pausing 15 minutes in to comment, the imperial japanese army and navy didn’t just have a healthy rivalry like in other nations military branches, they fucking HATED each other. They often even deliberately fed each other misinformation so they would screw up and look inferior in front of the emperor. The Americans were aware of this and spent a lot of effort on furthering that wedge.

I absolutely adore this movie. A personal cherry on top for me is that fact that its made by Clint Eastwood who as far as pop culture goes, as "Apple Pie" American as they get. To have "The balls" to release the "Enemy's side" after making "Flags of our Fathers" back in 2006(Bush Era + height of the Iraq War). Top it all, its the more critically acclaimed film of the two so arguably the better film. I just think thats awesome to see how different things are now compared to back then, that Mankind can look back together and say "This was a Tragedy"

I’m glad they illustrated the relationship that Japan and the US had before the war. Both were new powers trying to find their place in a world dominated by European colonization, and the US ironically helped the Japanese modernize. The cherry trees in Washington DC were a gift from Japan

I love this movie, and your reaction was awesome. As an aside, the thousand-stitch belts were good luck charms, more or less. Theoretically, they were supposed to ward off bullets, but they also represented the love and connection with their families back home who had hand made them

Also, I would love to see you guys react to Downfall. One of my favorite movies (memes aside)
