And so another adventure begins! We know this and The Last Airbender are two very different series, it's already quite apparent when it comes to the look, the feel and especially the main character. But we are nonetheless very excited to continue on in the world of the Avatar, and we can't wait to see what's in store!

A thing to keep in mind about Korra is that Nickelodeon treated this show terribly and only gave the creators one season at a time while putting them through production hell at the same time. So if the series feels a bit oddly paced, thats why

Regarding the bison, i think they discovered a herd of bison at some point that was hidden. You can tell the arrow markings on their fur are different from Appa's.

Airbison thing will be explained later in the series, so don't worry :)

I LOVE the animation and the music so much. I also really love Korra's arc, and I think you too will really get into it as the show goes on. It's a lot 'messier' than Aang's, but that's why I find it really intriguing and realistic.

Yeah the comics explain the bison and also what happened to zuko mom

Burooj Ahanger

the fact that the police are all metalbenders probably also adds to the nonbender unrest Read comics pls!!! you guys can voice them and dramatize the comics and read aloud.

Since no one has mentioned it, its been 70 years since Avatar. It's really not that surprising. There was a giant drill, airships, trucks, trains, tanks and submarines. The Industrial Revolution only took about 75 to 80 years. So it makes sense theres cars and radio and cameras. I know its gonna be an adjustment period with you guys because you loved Avatar and Aang so much, but just remember this one thing: Its the Legend of Korra, not Avatar 2. But im sure you'll grow more used to it as you watch more. Cant wait until next episode!

I'm excited you started LOK! This intro and the part where Katara talks about how her brother and friends are gone always gets me :(

Knowing characters from ATLA passed away also made me sad when I first watched LOK.

Andrew G

When Katara's hugging Korra before she leaves...man. Her expression. Every time, I remember the line, "Some friendships are so strong, they can even transcend lifetimes"

Jackie

I would say it has the 30s feel of old Shanghai or Hong Kong; especially the music and dressings.

Randa

I'm always emotional about Katara and Tenzin interacting with Korra because she's Aang's next life. That connection is there. <3

I'm so happy we're starting this!!! I think the first episode is great. Even the voiced over intro is amazing, in one minute it gets you hooked into this new world and characters as soon as you hear "my father, Avatar Aang". I like how they allow some nostalgia but they keep it real too. Some people have died and it sucks. Lin Beifong isn't friend with Korra just because Aang was friend with Toph. That's just not how it works in real life even if we want Lin and Korra to be instant best friends. I think the show has that perfect balance of nostalgia without making it pure dumb fan service that wouldn't make sense. The music is amazing too and as you said the animation upgrade really helps making it feel like a new show and a new world, personally I like it a lot. Can't wait to see the rest of the season. Btw on youtube I have changed my google username to "RB" so when I will clear comments it will be as "RB" not "Sweel" :)

KAT, YOUR OUTFIT IS AMAZING. IT FEELS LIKE AIR NATION. SO CUTE AND LIGHT :)

I had the same reaction to the animation upgrade, made ATLA seem dingy when I went back, but it didn't take long to appreciate the nostalgia again, plus they remastered it after Korra came out. I LOVE ATLA music but Korra's music is so....hopeful and spiritual. I dunno, it's just great. I've only rewatched the first season a time or two so most of the series will be like new for me too! So excited.

Only thing that bothers me is when did the white lotus become the boss of the avatar lol
