Sokka and Zuko are still trapped at the prison, where they have to come up with a completely new escape plan, so that they can hopefully rescue both Suki and Hakoda.
Meanwhile some familiar faces show up, which kind of threatens the whole operation. Or could they maybe be the key to escaping? Another great episode!

I just love how quickly Sonny was rooting for Mai to flip. :) I love Mai. She's the coolest. And I think what she did was the bravest thing in Avatar. She's not a bender, she had no escape, and she was facing down Azula like, "I'm going out fighting." That split second before TyLee comes in gives me chills. She doesn't even try to run. TyLee did her thing as a reaction without thought but Mai already knew there was no where to go.

Sonny, "Finally a situation where Azula doesn't come out ahead." Me, "You have no idea. Lol." I see a little regret or sadness in TyLee's eyes though, I don't think she did it out of contempt for Azula just love for Mai. Which is something Azula can't calculate for.

The Gaang with Zuko is getting stronger :) Azula can't hold her own as well against them. What will she do now without any friends??? Also I love the change in animation and moves in Zuko since the dragons. His firebending has so much flow now. No more anger in his punches. Almost like a waterbender :)

One of my favorite shots in this show is the one of Mai’s eyes through the cell door after Zuko closes it on her. There was so much detail and emotion put into that shot. Mai has been shown for most of the show to be someone that was bored or indifferent about everything except when it comes to Zuko. Her showing so much pain in just her eyes when Zuko leaves her again stands out so much considering how her demeanor usually is.

I had never realized. It's true though, you can literally grasp how much pain/confusion she's going through at that moment, with only the eyes. Thanks for sharing that

Ty Lee acted almost involuntarily and I think it just a part of what makes this betrayal soooo good. On the most primal level she acted as a protector to someone she cares about (Mai). Azula was down before Ty Lee could consciously process she attacked! I love it I love it I love it. No thought to the consequences of attacking the Fire Nation Princess! Just "I have to protect my friend"

Sonny you made me laugh super hard twice: First at how invested you were when you said: "she's coming for you,(dramatic pause) ass!". You wanted that payback so much, it was hilarious. Second when you said: "We thought he was the warden" and Kat you answered dead-cold "We?". That little banter was gold guys, loved it. And I got from Kat that Zuko now practices a new hot bending form, procreation bending? I guess it's a more satisfying version of firebending. As always I enjoy seeing you guys really diving in the show. Thanks for taking the time to share this I so appreciate it.

(Part 1) ( Splitting it in 2 comments since it seems Patreon wants shorter comments) I want to share something about that bit after Mai tells Azula: "You miscalculated [...] I love Zuko more than I fear you". The way they drew/animated Azula's face reacting says so much. You can actually witness a wide range of emotions in a matter of seconds. It shows how Mai struck on a chord so sensitive for Azula. Azula (FOR ONCE) reacts impulsively and loses her emotional composure. You can witness the shame/humiliation overcome her and lashes out in a way to protect her wounded pride/ego. It reminded me a bit at how narcissistic people react when they feel threatened (by being outed for example).

Since I don't see anyone else mentioning it I wanted to tell you that Mai and TyLee betraying Azula is foreshadowed. The scene with the earth king telling them about Long Feng betraying him she says, "It's terrible when you can't trust the people close to you." Mai and Tylee exchange a glance behind her :D When you finish the show, don't be too sad, I swear you get more out of it every time you see it :) It's that rich and deep.

I really like Mai and TyLee and the fact that Azula lost her "friends" is a win! Mai and Zuko's relationship is so interesting and I love how much she cares for him. Suki was badass. I also really enjoy that Avatar has shown non benders that are very capable. Excited to see your reaction to the next episode.

Sonny I was waiting for you to see this Azula moment. FINALLY things are starting to unravel for her. I think Ty Lee just needed the courage to stand up to Azula, and seeing Mai do it finally gave her that courage.
