This was a very interesting episode that even had some horror vibes.
And it gave us a lot to talk about afterwards. What a rollercoaster!

The early reaction version has been delayed a bit.

So cool how this show matures as it goes on. I remember you guys saying in Season 1 that you don't think the show would get dark enough to where people would bend the water inside people's bodies haha

Briaunna wyant

All elements have an advanced form of bending. Fire=Lightning Earth=Metal Water=Blood Bending Air=Controlling the air in the human body. If you remember episode 2 season one when the gang finds Monk Gyatso’s body he is surrounded by fire nation skeletons. I read it’s implied he pulled the air out of their lungs

I don't care much for this episode but I feel like it's a question that had to be answered. Your outfit and lip ended up fitting perfectly. How bout that.

Yes! thank you! you guys are the only ones who analyse this power like this. I totally agree with you both about the conflict within Katara now that she has this option. To take someone's 'will power' away is very conflicting. This episode explains why the Southern Water tribe now is so small and why that booby trap ship was there in episode 1. And I loooooooove your red lipstick Kat!

Nevik

Considering their circumstances I would not personally have an issue with learning bloodbending. How Hama used it was wrong (at least after her escape) but consent in a fight is an odd idea to me and I’d imagine many situations dealing with violent fire nation soldiers that I might use bloodbending for my or someone else’s protection. It’s certainly less intrusive then killing and there is a lot of killing that has gone on in that war and continues to go on.

Not a lot of women can pull off lipstick but it fits you perfectly Kat :D great reaction!

I can totally see what you mean about consent and all. I just feel like in most fighting, there are certain rules you follow; no kicking in the groin, if people surrender, you don't continue fighting/killing and if possible, don't take away body autonomy, but you can disarm, hurt, incapacitate them, etc etc..

Robert

Or he pulled the air out of the room suffocating them that way. Also there is Combustion Bending for Fire. Among other things i don't want to mention because they might watch Korra one day. I just realized, that it must be rather difficult to use fire bending in a room without air. Fire needs oxygen, bending or no bending. So he maybe even prevented them from using their power. His body wasn't burnt after all.

U POSTED THIS ON A FULL MOON

Elder

this is a great example of anyone is capable of great evil or great good.

Jackie

That glossy red lips! What brand are you using?

Jackie

The cat-owl is a Mandarin pun! Owls in Mandarin are called 猫头鹰 which literally means cat-headed bird of prey in English!

Jackie

Hama reminds me of Jet, if Jet went down an even darker path.

Japie

Thank you for understanding that this technique can only be performed during a full moon. Somehow like 9 out of 10 reactors miss this and still believe katara can do this technique at any moment 5 episodes later haha.. can be a little frustrating. This is a great episode though and great reaction!

Robert

If you apply these Bending powers to the real world, all of them are a lot more deadly than they use them in the show. Earth benders could create spikes instead of a flat surface punch which they do in the show. Fire wouldn't push you around, it would submerge and burn you. In the show the fire bending attacks are more like hot punches. Air benders could force air down your lungs, basically exploding them. Or could keep the air away from you, suffocating you. And as you said, water bending being one of the most deadly since water is almost everywhere and we are about 70% water. If you would make a fan fiction for adults, you could make that extremely brutal. And in that world, blood bender masters would be among if not the most deadly people.

Not sure if anyone brought it up, but I'm think Hama has been capturing Fire Nation citizens every full moon, imprisoning them, and leaving them to die. Rinse and repeat for the past number of decades. Unless I missed something.

ohhh yeah you're probably right. someone said also they thought she could be making their corpses into her literal puppets- desiccating their bodies by ACTUALLY bloodbending their circulatory system dry. like souvenirs of her murders lol. Hama cray cray
